  1. I'm pretty sure the original president spinning reel with the wood handle knob was released after pure fishing took over. I did have one pflueger arbor reel that was rough and returned it right away. never had another issue with the dozen or so I've had since. So I think you just got a lemon and they did not sell out, since they're still the same company. Incidentally the worse real I ever had was a daiwa spinning reel. But my Dad did get a Revros last year and it's been a good reel. The new LT lineup is a solid alternative to Pflueger in the sub $100 market
  2. Most rods have stupid names. Mojo is pretty dumb. Do you like rods with alpha numeric names?
  3. My theory is they are making new Patriot rods for Bass Pro. Patriot is the first word that popped in my head when I saw the scrambled logo. It looks like the old Patriot rods are no longer available and St Croix has a history of making exclusive rods for BPS/cabelas
  4. how long ago was that? what do you mean sold out? they're still owned by pure fishing right? I haven't had any issues with president XT's purchased the last few years. I haven't purchased a regular president in at least 5 years. I do have one older supreme that the paint started bubbling on, but I think that was from moisture in my rod locker.
  5. most kayaks are not designed to take a pole or scupper cart. you'll damage your hull and void your warranty. there are a few brands that it may be OK, but definitely do your research. It's easy to use an anchor trolley with a large ring to put the pole through
  6. St Croix is running some combo specials https://stcroixrods.com/collections/rod-shopper

  8. bass are biting good up in northern Wisconsin. haven't bothered to fish around here lately.
  9. what does budget mean to you? The pescador pro is one of the best in the sub $1000 range. under $500 you are kinda stuck with the big box store specials or try to find something used.
  10. I think you'll be fine. the weed guards really only work on certain weeds and pads. nothing stops that nasty stuff the will even catch the tag ends of you knots
  11. most likely you are getting a lot of bluegill bites. a rapid tap-tap-tap is usually gills and sometimes a bigger one will even get it in its mouth and start swimming with it. I switched from wacky to neko hooks last year and hookup percentage is nearly 100% now. I've used the VMC and Trokar weedless Neko hooks in size 1 and both are equally good. just reel into the fish until you feel pressure then give them an easy hookset. these are light wire hooks on light line with a medium/fast rod, no need to hammer them to set the hook
  12. need to know what kayak you have. how wide and how high is the seat? how tall are you? some of these newer fishing kayaks are over 35" wide and have an elevated seat that you need a 270cm plus paddle. If you want more power, I highly recommend a bent shaft paddle
  13. honestly I'd just stick with the 33 platinum. the omega isnt much better and more than double the price. if you can get away with lighter line, 6-8lbs, the trigger under-spincast reels on a spinning rod cast much farther IMO than the regular spincast reels on a casting rod.
  14. I keep forgetting to try this with the TRD or big TRD. I actually used a similar rig about 10 years ago after reading an article in In Fisherman. The idea was the nail weight was better for fishing from shore than a normal texas rig because it would make the worm fall backwards to the deeper water. It worked but then I just started wacky rigging instead and never went back
  15. the softer tip is what I like about the premiers. you should try the mojo or eyecon in a 6'8 MXF if you want a stiff tip
  16. reading between the lines of the press release, it sounds to me like they are going to develop electric motors President and CEO of BRP. “We will concentrate our efforts on new and innovative technologies and on the development of our boat companies, where we continue to see a lot of potential to transform the on-water experience for consumers,”
  17. the bend is very small but it gives you so much more power. a lot of kayaks including the ride have primary and secondary stability. the rocking back and forth is the primary stability. it feels a little tippy at first but it's almost impossible to roll it past the point of the secondary stability. if you have the max seat though you can just sit in the high position and fish, or put it in the low position and sit side saddle. keep moving around so you dont get too stiff. once you start catching fish you'll be hooked. when I first started kayak fishing I was trying to bring a bunch of gear and a fish finder that took a long time to set up. IMO that somewhat defeats the simplicity of non-tournament kayak fishing. now I just have the kayak, paddle, crate, tackle boxes, rods, net and anchor. watch some youtube videos on loading your kayak. I use a large bathmat from walmart to slide the kayak onto the roof then turn it 90 degrees onto the cross bars. it really shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to load and unload once you get the hang of it
  18. sounds like you may be setting the hook too hard. I usually just use a reel set. stick your rod tip in the water if you sense a jump coming. could also try a lighter mono with a little more stretch.
  19. you need a ergonomic bent shaft paddle. I switched to one last year and it made a huge difference. I was considering switching to a pedal kayak until I tried the bent shaft paddle. Sierra trading post has them on clearance. I just bought another one for backup. 240CM should be good for your ride 115. https://www.sierra.com/at-paddles-exodus-fishstix-fishing-paddle-bent-shaft~p~869jw/?filterString=kayaking-and-watercrafts~d~122%2Fadventure-technology~b~2296%2C38519%2C1880%2C1103%2C38881%2C1854%2C2416%2C1539%2C1553%2C1551%2F I had a ride 115 and it was a tough boat to paddle, but very stable. you should be able to stand up no problem. I was able to jump up and down in mine
  20. mine is a 2014. I have the side console with 60HP and it is plenty for my needs. at the time the Merc 90 was a lot heavier so it didnt make sense. now the 90 and 115 are lighter so you'd definitely want to max the HP in a Rebel or Adventure with the full windshield. I went with a 24v 80lb terrova with ipilot. dont skimp out and get the 12v trolling motor. I'd also get it with the electronics you want for the next 5+ years. If you order direct from Lund the electronics, trolling motor, etc gets covered by the bow to stern warranty. only thing I'd change is the color. I have black and it looks dirty most of the time.
  21. I have the 1650 rebel XL and it isnt tippy at all. it also fits in my 20' deep garage. I've fished 4 in it but even 3 is really too much. perfect boat for 2 fishing in smaller lakes. the only way you could get 6 is if two sat in the bow. the boat you probably need is the lund adventure with bow seating cushions. ideally the 1775 but it may not fit in your garage unless you angle it. the 1675 should fit a 20ft garage. how deep is your garage?
  22. you'd have to fabricate something that fits to the existing seat mounting points to distribute the load. then attached a small piece of marine grade plywood to mount the locking swivel and boat seat
  23. was watching an episode of Zona's fishing show the other night, he had his rage swimmers loose in a big bass mafia money bag.
  24. TW probably does more volume than all of those combined. some of those probably have one or two guys fulfilling orders I work for a company with a very large warehouse and we have had to cut back on shifts and add in cleaning time between shifts. if someone gets sick in one of the shifts, that whole shift goes into quarantine until they can be tested. things like this could be happening at TW. even having to close down for a day or two can create huge backlogs of inventory coming and going out
