  7. recently found that the RI beavers don't hold up as well as i would like so i'm on the hunt for something else last week i picked up 4 different beavers to try out i will let you know which one i like best
  8. my lake is small i've never had this issue luckily just glad everyone is ok. just curious in the states do you have to have a license to drive a boat?

  10. so in Ontario bass opened this past weekend like every other Ontario angler i was beyond excited i rigged up 8 rods the night before for the trip, all with various baits. 1) 1/2 oz Dredge Brush Jig 2) 3/4 oz Mata Football Jig 3) 3/8 oz Chatterbait 4) Arashi 5 Squarebill 5) Hudd 68 6) Strike King 6XD 7) Strike King Sexy Dawg 8) 5/16 oz Ned Rig The morning started off slow as I covered water with a spook and chatterbait, I hit the first one about 8:30 an hour into my trip not to big but man did i miss seeing blow-ups on top water baits. after that i hit one more on top water and then the bite died, I couldn't find anything for a while until i decided to start flipping brush and lily pads. Lets just say i need a couple more packages of beavers now they were on them non stop. I flipped in 6 good fish all over 3 lbs including one smallie which hit 3.5. I then moved to a couple spots and decided to throw the hudd which didn't get bit but that's fine I know how it goes with big baits, then i covered the bank again moving with a 3/8 oz bladed jig which landed me another 4 fish i decided to call if a day and have some beers with the guys. so over all i had an awesome opening weekend
  11. match the forage in the lake if it is bluegill then use green pumpkin if it is shad use white if the water is stained use black and blue
  12. anything texas rigged would likely be your best bet
  13. actually just talked to my doc about this she said get some voltaren emulgel and apply it to the source of pain
  14. i was thinking about it a little more and i realised it is because the season doesn't open until the end of june and colleges are already out then
  15. the slow glide is what you're looking for it is what the bait is designed to do. you should be able to twitch the tip of your rod and make the bait do a 360 or at least a 180 this can trigger strikes. the reason you are likely not getting bit is because it is a large bait which is normally only bit by larger fish. i think the stock hooks should be fine on it i wouldn't change them
  16. all day long when it's hot over any pad bed you can
  17. they're for salt water applications
  18. it's blasphemes
  19. i didn't say i agreed with them
  20. it seems so basic but makes so much sense obviously you're not going to catch the 10 pounder if you fish the other end of the lake, they didn't get that big by swimming around all the time
  21. i read an article last week that really made me think about this. it had a couple interviews with pros and all 3 said the same thing. 1) when you first get to a spot you should be throwing moving baits to see if the fish are active. first using a search bait like a spinnerbait, bladed jig, lipless crank something along those lines, then once you determine if the fish are active or not you can slow down if you know they are there with more finesse techniques like drop shots, ned rigs, senkos or anything like that. 2) if you are fishing grass or pad beds work a frog across the top first then move to flipping a jig or a t-rigged plastic into obvious spots if you don't get any blow-ups on the frog. 3) i think this is the most important point. do not assume fish are doing the same thing all over the lake. basically meaning repeat this process all over the lake if you are not finding fish.
  22. so the trolling motor i use is an original shakespear wonder toll i have no idea what the power on it is i am just wondering what size of battery i need to run this effectively for a whole day. i have used a smaller battery (from a snowmobile) it died 15 minutes into my trip a couple weeks ago. my gut tells me that a full size battery would be much better for it but my boat isn't the most spacious as some of you may have seen. any advice is appreciated maybe i would be good to make a tray for the battery to sit in front of my first seat that way the boat has a bit more weight to it as well. thoughts, concerns?
