  1. No one has mentioned the most important thing! Keep the first few trips short. 2-3hrs. Also be patient and helpful the whole time.
  2. Some companies rate their MH as 1/4-3/4 10-17lb line and some 3/8-1oz 12-20lb line. If you were to stick to 3/8 and 1/2oz jigs I would go with 3/8-1oz 12-20lb line rating rods.
  3. C4. I broke my old one out last suofor some surf casting for blues and stripers using 1/2 and 3/4 bucktails and it was slinging them way out there with 15lb big game line. I was impressed. I forgot what a great casters these reels are.
  4. I use yellow pp braid for visibility and don’t care if it fades. I usually get two full seasons out of it, then flip it and get two more seasons out of it.
  5. Maybe some people have less slippery saliva? Who knows? All I know is after trying many knots and different strength FC lines, I can't get them as strong and consistent as mono. The Eugene slip knot has been the best for me so far. When I tie a knot and test it, if it holds it's great. However if it doesn't I just have tie one until it's a good one.
  6. Nope. I tie the Eugene slip and pitzen knots. I can’t seem to get super consistent knot strength. Like one out of three fail early and faster than when I tie knots w mono. I’m good at tying knots but can’t get consistency with fluorocarbon or as strong knots. I do like the feel tho.
  7. For me I have never been able to get as good knot strength with fluorocarbon as with mono. When I use fluorocarbon leaders I go up a line size from where I would use mono. As far as abrasion resistance goes fluorocarbon seems to be a little better from my non scientific fishing experience.
  8. 30 for sure. The 25 Pflueger reels are small, for ultralight/light action rods. The 30 will fit perfectly .
  9. James I tried your version of the Eugene Slip Knot with fluorocarbon. I just tied 10 knots with it all different sizes lines, and it's the most consistent flouro knot I've tried. I always have trouble with consistency when using flouro. Thanks!
  10. I've used it a few years so far with no issues. You wrap the line around the ring 3 times and it holds great.
  11. Here's a nice POV video too it's the same way as in the video you posted. I practiced it a while ago over the winter, and I tie it on the water all the time. It takes me about two minutes to tie it now. Zero failures in 4 years! 8lb-40lb braid to 6lb-17lb leaders.
  12. Hey I was in that boat too when tightening my FG knots until I got one of these. It's a fantastic tool! https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiichi_Seiko_Finger_Saver_Knot_Tying_Tool/descpage-DSFSK.html
  13. I use the Rapala Skitter Prop all the time, which is very similar. It only has a prop in the rear but it catches tons of fish.
  14. You found McCoy to have the same memory as Big Game? McCoy copolymer has the least amount of memory I have ever seen in copolymer or mono line.
  15. I always have a texas rigged plastic of some kind with a bullet weight pegged ready on every trip.
  16. These are for sure the strongest clips I have found, and the easiest to use. I had a monster bass come off a VMC cross lock snap rated for 24lbs on 8Lb line. Never again. Only this is these clips can't be used with cupped poppers because the line tie is too recessed. The 50lb is good for all bass fishing duties. Also, they don't pick up any weeds. https://www.amazon.com/TACTICAL-ANGLERS-Power-Clips/dp/B00CFTOB22?th=1&psc=1
  17. Hey. What colors do you like? I would guess Bluegill or shad.
  18. No the Stradic 1000 wouldn't be too small. The only spinning reels I use are Stradic FK and Tatula LT. The 1000 Stradic would fit great, it is heavier than any of the LT's 1000-3000. If you want a larger spool get the Tatula 3000 it has the same line capacity as the 2000 if you get the shallow spool version. It's just a little larger body and the spool is wider. The 3000 is only slightly heavier too. Those LT's are killer reels. I have 5!
  19. I have a 6'6" ML legend Tournament Walleye St Croix, and it's perfect with either a 2000-3000 Tatula LT. My favorite reel on there is a 2000 LT with 10lb braid. A very versatile rig.
  20. Hello I was given two 1oz Savage Gear Glide Swimmers this winter and was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a rig to throw them on. I have these rods to use: Mag Heavy 735 Dobyns, 6'8" Medium Heavy St Croix LTB, and a Heavy 7' 704 Dobyns. I was planning on using 20lb copolymer line.
  21. I love the 3" soft Hellgrammite baits. The BPS version is great. Smallmouth and Largemouth go nuts for one wacky rigged on a wacky jighead. They are excellent drops shot baits, and fished on a split shot rig too. There's also a guy on Ebay that sells a great one in bulk that seems like it's the same as the BPS version. Great lures!
  22. Fantastic reel. I have 3 seasons on mine (1000 size) and it's working like new.
  23. If balance is important to you the mojo bass rods are a little tip heavy. Daiwa tatula and Dobyns have a better feel. All are nice rods though.
