We have one and haven’t used it in years. Used it twice a week for a couple of months then went back to grocery store bread.

It’s -2 degrees here this morning. That the coldest it’s been in over 20 years. All of the California immigrants in our neighborhood are freaking out.

I’m just gonna say it. I think pound for pound the hardest fighting fish I’ve ever caught was a bluegill. Now the biggest one I’ve caught probably weighed about a pound so it wasn’t much of a fight but for their size they are impressive. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to hook into a 3 or 4 pounder.

Maybe your ball cap can go fishing some of us retired guys. We go most weekdays. ?

Yeah the MB 110 jr works really well. Just call your insurance agent and add them to your policy. ?

What I love about these reels is you can turn the brakes off or very low and cast a mile by thumbing the spool. I doesn’t seem like you can really turn the brakes completely off with modern reels.

You probably just need a good leash. Be sure to get a fluorocarbon one, they’re more sensitive.

There are a few similar things on my local lake. Around here we call them sink holes. It all depends on the surrounding terrain.

I think the answers to your questions will vary a lot from lake to lake and everyone will answer based on their own local experience. As already mentioned, on the Tennessee river the release schedule has a huge impact on the current and current is very important for fishing. On flood control lakes the water level can fluctuate dramatically and rapidly changing water levels can make finding fish difficult. On deep highland lakes you can have very tall dams where the water temperature and dissolved oxygen issues that have been mentioned come in to play.

I have made thousands of pitches with that reel. I still love it and used one this afternoon. It’s made for people that don’t switch hands after casting.

Many people will have strong opinions on this. I used to be a strong believer in his teachings. I now look at it a little differently. He proposed the importance of structure in locating fish. Every time I hit the water I'm constantly thinking about structure. He has had an enormous impact on the way I think about fishing. I spend a hours looking at lake contour maps as I think about were I want to fish next. This process is all about evaluating structure using mostly techniques that he first proposed. I appreciate very much his contributions to this sport. If you follow his teaching you will catch fish. Many people understand the importance of structure without knowing that it started with him. That said, it's important to realize that much of what he believed about fish movement has been disproven since he first proposed his theories. Buck said "Deep water is the home of the fish". We know that some fish stay shallow most, if not all of the time. We know that fish can travel across open water without "sign post". No tracking study that I'm aware of supports his theory that fish move from deep water to shallow water based on weather patterns. Personally, I completely ignore his teaching on weather and fish movement. Still, I find fish on the breaks just like he said. I don't really care how they got there or why. Concerning smallmouth. He believed that his theories applied to all game fish.

The hoses now have convenient breakaway attachments to the pump and can easily be reattached when someone does what you did….. at least that’s what a friend told me… I wouldn’t know ?.

That’s a new one. If you turn off sonar pinging does the sound go away? Has it always had this problem?
