Tourneys banning FFS / Forward Facing Sonar / Livescope
That’s the last straw, I’m giving up Muskie fishing. ?

MLF Stage 6 Cayuga
Big win for Connell and a big win for smallmouth bass. Most of the fish caught were largemouth. He won it with smallies.

Give me your thoughts on this…
That’s a great video. Watch it and listen carefully to the language he uses. Notice how often he says typically, a lot of times, I feel like, probably, I lean towards, more times than not, that’s just my opinion, then we go from there. He’s not talking absolutes. He’s not stating the rules. He’s giving the guidelines he uses as he’s trying to dial it in. Ultimately, the fish make the rules and we have to figure them out on a given day.

New trolling motor or active target live sonar?
I have both. Live sonar is awesome. Spot lock on a good trolling motor is a must for me. I vote for the trolling motor.

Give me your thoughts on this…
If you dedicated an entire day to fishing one bait then all you can say is that the bait worked. You can’t say it was better than another bait that you didn’t try. We create rules that we expect bass to follow. They don’t always follow our rules. The rules should be considered guidelines at best most of the time.

MLF Stage 6 Cayuga
Dakota Ebare’s trolling motor died at the very end of the competition today. What’s the deal with trolling motors in this event? I assume they’re all running LiFePO4 batteries. I’m starting to wonder if that’s a good idea.

Fall
I consider myself a very inexperienced fall fisherman. The days have always been to short to fish after work. College football has taken up many of my Saturdays and church on Sunday morning. That has left Sunday afternoon and the occasional day off. UNTIL NOW! I’m retired and ready to make the most of the fall weather. I can’t wait.

This sums me up pretty well
Yes Very big $20,000 new member fee $500/month membership dues If you don’t spend $200 a month at the club or you will be billed the remaining balance. Also, while fishing you must wear golf shoes, slacks, and a collared shirt. No jeans or shorts. You must also hire a caddy to carry your tackle box. Caddy fee is $50 plus tip.

Transducer Beam --- What is it?
Most modern transducers can send multiple beams of various shapes. Both old school cone shapes and beams that are wide from side to side and very narrow from front to back. These are used to provide very detailed images and side imaging. Here's a diagram of the various beams and frequencies that my transducer is capable of sending.

Trolling Motor Battery Question
It is safe to disconnect the black wire but that would drive me crazy. There are countless marine switches on the market. Just make sure you get one that can handle the high current that a trolling motor requires. 100 amps should be enough. Here's just one made by a reliable company with a 350 amp rating. https://www.westmarine.com/blue-sea-systems-e-series-dual-circuit-battery-switch-15778426.html

I haven't been able to find anything on Wheeler's battery setup for 2022. He has a video where goes over everything on his 2021 boat and he was using Millertech lithium batteries.

Happy Birthday
Happy birthday. Hope you get to spend it at Lake Meanderchuck. ?

Death by Ned
For 40 years I’ve listened to fisherman say that one thing or another is going to kill all the bass. I’ll start paying attention when I see a drop in the bass population.

What device do you use to browse the forum?
I use an iPad, iMac and occasionally an iPhone to access the site. Apple products are pricey but work great.

Tectan Superior
I used it a lot many years ago and liked it. It’s very similar to Sunline Supernatural.

your BEST(!) Summertime tip to..........!
I’m a thumper. I buy the one that has the best drum sound. It’s probably all in my head.

Minimum acceptable drag pressure
Are you bass fishing? 8.8 lbs is close to what a gallon of water weighs. That’s a lot of weight. Tie your line to a gallon of water and VERY CAREFULLY try to lift it with your rod and reel. I don’t own a rod that I would feel comfortable lifting that much weight with.

Moving to Chattanooga (Short Term)
I’ve been there. They wouldn’t let me fish. ?

Please help I.D. this animal
Foxes have bushy tails and it doesn’t look like you’re critter does. I vote dog or some kind of fox that I’m not familiar with.

Burring out a Pond?
There is strong evidence that fish learn to avoid lures very quickly and that fish that have never seen a lure are very easy to catch. I don’t think they necessarily connect the dots between a lure and being caught but they learn that lures are not food and loose interest.

Your worst fishing habit
Staying home thinking it’s going to rain because the weather man said it would.

O-rings for finesse works
I bought a set of 200 at Harbor Freight for like $4. Not all of the sizes are usable for fishing but it was still a good deal. The bait monkey hates it when I buy fishing stuff at Harbor Freight.
-
Are these any good
Buy both in lots of colors. You might need them.

Bullfrogs in my pool…
I'm not very creative. I'd just call him Earl.

Casting Rod vs Spinning Rod Specific Techniques
I know people who only fish spinning and it works for them. I know people who only fish bait casting and it works for them. I fish both and it works for me.
