  1. I would try a KVD 100 jerk bait it has been good to me in that type of condition. A KVD 1.0 square bill can be good too IMHO.
  2. Sorry for your loss.
  3. This,^^^^ they make a Zoom lil' critter craw in black with red claws. I have caught many fish with that color.
  4. Thanks and Merry Christmas to everyone on this forum!

  6. @rangerjockey That is true but places I fish they either get broken or lost. I have some of those others but I throw the budget ones too.
  7. The only thing I can see different is 30 bucks Nasci being cheaper. The old sales pitch " If you can't get them to behold your brilliance then baffle them with your. *BS*.
  8. I recently received a couple of gift cards. So I tried to order some square bill cranks online that I had lost this year fishing. To my surprise most of the colors were not shown anymore. The new product will be called BPS Nitro I was told. Has Anyone seen these new cranks ?

The X-rap needs a hard jerk when I fish with them. Husky Jerk needs a much lighter jerk to attract fish.

The Husky Jerk is a good bait and will catch fish. Something has to be said for a bait that has been around as long as it has. But it is always about what the person holding the rod is comfortable with. I have several that have had a lot of hookups.
  11. Nice very nice.
  12. Well I don't think of being a hammer. Teddy Roosevelt gave his troops this advice. He defined a Big Shot as a little shot that kept on shooting.
  13. I used to always Strike King coffee tubes. A year and a half ago I found a Bio Spawn Vile Tube in watermelon gold flake it caught fish like crazy so that's what I have been using for now.
  14. I understand what you are doing and storing your jigs that way it does help a lot.I do that with my soft plastics. I put them in one of those Bass Mafia bags and I just pull out a couple to carry in my pocket or a dry bag to go bank fishing. I carry 5 or 6 jigs at the most in a Plano 3449 box it has 5 dividers. And I use a Plano for my hooks also.
  15. For me it wasn't trying to match the crawfish but I felt the 1/2 oz weight better on the end of my line. I was looking for the bait to feel different. And the heavy weight has more of a pronounced feel when you had to pick it up and it was easier to have no slack in your line cause it weighs more. Once I broke that confidence barrier I didn't have any problem with any size jig. This was the way my brother learned to fish a jig and he passed it on to me. Maybe it wasn't the best way but it worked for me. Everyone probably has their own was they started out.And I bet they all were different at least at first.
  16. I found it easier to feel the bite with a heavier jig in the beginning. 1/2 oz to start after several successful days with it I could fish smaller jigs too.

I had trouble with the hooks also. I had a pack of 3/0 and 4/0 ewg hooks I bought at the same time. 3/0 worked out fine but the 4/0 hooks would cut my line. It had a sharp edge on the hook eye on just about all of the hooks in the pack. I went to Walmart and replaced them with some Eagle Claws and I have never bought that hook line ever again.
  18. I bank fish small ponds mostly. A average cast is 15 to 20 yards out at the most.I try not to bomb cast. I like to try to hit my spots. However this time of year the water clears up a good bit so casting over and pulling up through your spot is very helpful. But there still is a targeted spot to work with.
  19. Cool water is not always bad. I always keep to the same pattern to find the fish. I start with fishing the shallow wood and structures like boat dock pilings first. Then I will follow the grass lines even though they don't look as good as they do in warm water seasons. If I don't find the bite in all this. I will start fishing deeper and follow the creek channel and the bluff walls across the dam. Most of the time I will find the bite. But there will be a day now and then when you can't catch even a cold.
  20. I learned that BR is the best fishing site around.

I always keep their plastic worms in my tackle pack. I have several square bills and floating jerk baits that are bass pro branded. Most everything I have bought from them has worked great.
  22. A medium heavy won't be good with your 1/8oz small baits. A medium sized bait I assume is like a KVD 1.5 and if you want the rod to do both I would go to a medium fast spinning rod. It would be probably the best for both weights. I would look at a working range of 1/8 to 1/2 oz.
  23. Those Eagle Claw jigs at Walmart work the best for me also. I also have used some Peanut Craft lures Jigs also they have some unique sizes available for small crappie jigs. And I have bought some jig heads for small 3in or 3.5 in. swim baits also. I haven't used a glue for many years.
