Built a new rod.
The new rod works good. I caught several fish this week using it. Largest was a 2.56 lb Alabama Bass.

Fishing While Sitting at the Bow
I fish several times a week and @ 83 with a cabled controlled trolling motor I almost always sit. Getting in and out of the boat takes me longer than it used to.

How often do you go into your tacklebox while fishing?
When I break off and don't have extra hooks and sinkers on the deck.

Well, I finally launched without the drain plug
Are you calling me a bonehead?

Well, I finally launched without the drain plug
Took my 2 kids, 9 and 4, to Lake Nacimiento for a 3 day trip in my slide-in camper. Got to the ramp, launched the boat and went to the camp ground and parked the camper. Walked back to the ramp and the gas tanks, 2 6 gallon ones, were floating. Oops. A woman next to me, on the ramp had just launched their boat and I asked her if she'd pull mine up the ramp to drain. Good thing she had a double axle trailer. Took about 20 minutes. Every boat I've had except my recent one I've left the plug out.

The Funniest Thing Youve Ever Seen On The Water Or At The Ramp
Fishing offshore in CA many many years ago a fellow in another boat was or thought he was hooked up to a good fish. The water was 30 or 40' deep and I knew he had the bottom. Each swell would take line and he'd gain on the trough. I motored up to him and asked if he'd like to use my gaff. Still having a smile over that.

Built a new rod.
I know what you mean. I carry a 5'6" Immortal rod for kayak fishing throwing under overhanging banks.

Built a new rod.
My buddy said my present worm rod is too short, 6'2" so I tried a longer one earlier this year that I didn't like as much as the older one so I built another. It's for finesse fishing, spinning, 6 or 8 lb line, 1/16th or 1/8th oz sinker with a 4 3/4" finesse worm. It's a Rainshadow Immortal walleye blank, extra fast 6'8" for 6-14 lb line IMMWS68MXF-TC. Too cold today for me to try it so tomorrow or Sunday will be the day.

Boat cover question
I added snaps to my fiberglass boat when I had to keep it in the water during very low water times. I made a PVC frame that slid over the seat posts and custom made a heavy silver tarp that snapped on. It worked fine for the couple of years that I couldn't use the covered dock. If I had an expensive boat I'd have a custom made cover.

vertical jigging depth
It's not normal but I've caught bass up to 45' with a 1/2 or 3/4oz spoon. Usually about 30' is the maximum the bass will be at.

Hub Selection & Install Help?
Use enough washers to get the cotter key in the hole. If the spindle has grooves worn in it there are Spindo Sleeves to repair it. Grooves will allow the grease to leak out.

Sonar lure?
Yes. Heddon Sonar.

Bass catching challenge.
When you're in FL during the winter it's easy to catch fish all year.

How many states have you fished and what is your opinion of them?
CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, CO, WY, AR, GA, NC, SC, FL, WV, VA, PA, NY, MA, KY and Baja. If I was bass fishing I used the same worm for all of them.

Grenaded a lower unit 😳
Better doing that instead of locking up. Don't ask how I know.

Pretty good lure retriever...
I fish deep, over 20', lakes and carry a Basspro EZ lure retriever. Jigging spoons are mostly what I get stuck in brush piles. I have probably a 70% success rate.
-
Would like your opinion.
I have the Tatula LT also and love it. I've been using it several times a week for a year and it's the same as new.
-
trailer length increasing
Another thought is are you using lithium batteries? That puts more weight on the front of the trailer so the 5-10% might not be true.

To service, or not to service (new to me 90hp Mercury)
🤣🤣🤣

Old Town Autopilot dual motor setup?
In electric only lakes lots of people have 2 high thrust motors on the stern plus a bow mounted trolling motor on their jon boats. Kayaks are different with little room for batteries, 6 rods, tackle boxes, etc.

Going to look at used Boats, what to really look for
In addition to what others said, look at the boats on the waters you go on and ask the owners, if you can, about their choices.

Rethinking Kayak Tackle Storage
There are enough pockets in my PFD to hold all the tackle I take in a day's fishing.

Worm Stories
About 1980 a friend took me to a tournament, on Lake Castaic, as his partner and introduced me to worm fishing and doodling. Being mostly an ocean fisherman I didn't know much about bass fishing but was a quick learner. I caught the big fish, $108. All he wanted to do is beat Don Iovino, who he taught to doodle, and we did. We used a hand pour 4" brown, black and orange Smittys worm made locally. I still have a couple. Today I use a worm probably 70% of my fishing time. Too old and sore to chunk and wind all day.
