  1. I simply removed the kill switch in middle of motor pod and used the existing wires to wire in a heavy duty on/off switch, worked perfectly. I have one terrible pic. I've since sold the boat because wife wanted to start fishing so bought a Bass Raider.
  2. If I snag something in the boat on an attempted long cast which produces the really nasty bird nest, I simply put the rod down and grab another one.
  3. I trim the skirts and use modest trailers on Jigs and Spinnerbaits and when using trailer hooks ( Spinnerbaits ) always hook fish on the front hook. My longtime fishing partner is a big advocate of trailer hooks but our hook up ratio is the same. If it gives you more confidence, use them. I've personally found them unnecessary.
  4. I've thrown Jigs my whole life but actually had a banner day earlier this month throwing swim Jigs....... just swimming them along and bumping cover. It's kinda of a hard technique to screw up. Lol

    ?
  6. That's how I go about it also..... still use bouys.
  7. Can't remember ever skipping a Spinnerbait, never tried Only baits that I've skipped were wacky rig and Zoom flukes.
  8. I fish sometimes with a long time friend and occasionally with the wife but overall, prefer to fish alone. I'm more focused and alert when it's just me.
  9. 20 minutes to adjust ? Sorry to hear of your struggles ?
  10. I actually have a witness on a bait that only gets wet, nothing else. Had a big isolated lay down and threw a chatterbait several times, nothing. Next cast with a Spinnerbait caught a fish and following cast with a swim jig produced another fish.......SO NO, Chatterbaits never " finally started to work ". BUT my least favorite baits to throw are crankbaits. I love hanging around heavy cover......so do crankbaits. Lol
  11. One thing I'd like to mention, you instantly become a handyman for everyone that knows your retired, seriously.
  12. Congratulations you'll love it but the fish is gonna hate it. Lol
  13. I and my fishing partner have caught all of our big fish on 3/8 swim Jigs this year by simply swimming them through and around heavy cover. In heavy cover you'll want to physically press the weed guard closer to the hook to minimize hang ups....... I've found. Here's the colors that have been producers Heads are OutKast heads
  14. Actually sounds fun and the results are obvious.
  15. I love an early morning top water session but will fish whenever, however. To reiterate what's been posted, my PB was midday, bluebird sky and every big fish I've caught this year has been midday. I'd fish the bigger SP lake.
  16. Happy anniversary ?
  17. Nah, that lip was torn completely off on an aggressive hook set....... I've actually done it a time or 2, regrettably. Hopefully it grows back.
  18. Water temp in the 30's invites a skunk. I personally don't start catching fish until mid 40's here, largemouth bass that is. I work with a limited selection of baits when water temps are COLD.......That being jerkbaits, Spinnerbaits and Jigs, that's all I catch them on. Air temps have minimal effect on water temp this time of year though.
  19. Are you getting a replica ? Lol You have me beat, congratulations ?
  20. Exactly what I do, never an issue bringing big fish out of wood.

Never heard of pickleball but sounds like you're the last person I'd wanna play. Lol Only racket sport that I was good at was ping pong...... I'm talking Forrest Gump good.
  22. I start loosing accuracy at 200 yards ?
  23. You are absolutely correct about the " buck in rut don't taste good" . They most certainly do and can't tell a difference between them and a doe. On the outside they stink because they're rutting but has no effect on the meat. Imo
  24. Would you believe every fish we caught today was on Docks and on Jigs. Water temps on the cold side was 55*. This was our best fish of the day.
