  1. I feel ya' I'm usually on the water at daylight and off by noon this time of year. I dislike the heat and the sun being straight up especially bluebird skies. Cloudy days and steep shaded banks.
  2. Aren't they very similar to the KVD 2.5 wake ❓ I only have (1) in gizzard shad and have grown fond of it.
  3. You should always set your drag regardless of line. It's better for the rod and reel AND the fishes mouth.
  4. Hope all goes well with the cleanup. On a smaller scale, my bass fishing will dramatically end as soon as the temperatures drop enough to play lumberjack. We had a major gypsy moth outbreak last year killing roughly 15% of our large Oaks. 13 of which are a threat to fall on either the house, vehicles and an expensive outdoor wood boiler. They must come down and hopefully fall in the right direction.😁
  5. I'm too stubborn to climb aboard the FFS train. Also have very mixed feelings about it's usage. 🤫
  6. Someone mentioned talk to the locals, good advice. Last year in mid August I was pulling down to the boat ramp and talked to a guy " local " about the fishing conditions. He said it was very slow for the most part but gave me the name of the cove that was productive for him. It had standing timber in 30' of water and cooler water compared to the main lake. I fished that area for 3 straight days and was able to catch enough to be content in the dog days. I was vertical fishing a wacky rigged Senko on a 1/16 head and letting it ride down the standing timber. That was his advice as well.
  7. I fish a lot of finesse techniques in our clear water and yes, big fish can be caught but so can dinks...... I'm ok with it.
  8. Nothing but Tungsten, reaction tackle. Just recently went to Tungsten bladed jigs as well.
  9. In stained water I've always done well with black & blue jigs if I'm not throwing a spinnerbait.
  10. We had a major heat wave move through and the smaller lakes I fish heated up temperature wise and the fish turned off. July and August I set the alarm for 3:30 am.

Ned hooks will bend and free themselves mostly, shaky head won't. Try a drop-shot where you only lose the weight.
  12. Year around ❓
  13. That's a really memorable day, thanks for sharing.
  14. My PB came in August and my other citation came in early April. Most of my better fish each year come during the prespawn on jigs and spinnerbaits.
  15. Enjoyable video, thanks
  16. Anytime I deep hook a fish and it doesn't survive the best way to pay respect is to eat it. Spotted Bass are invasive here and DNR wants us fisherman to keep them......no problem as they are delicious.
  17. Had a member pm and eventually call to give valuable information about bass fishing the upper Potomac. Haven't seen him post in quite a while.
  18. I actually throw all wacky rig on a 1/16 VMC weedless ( single wire )wacky head unless throwing in grass.
  19. I'm a glass half full. That bass already threw the jig and you'll catch that fish before the years out.
  20. Something I will add. We fish this one particular lake several times a year that has stained water, the bladed jig really shines shallow and deep.
  21. I don't know if this particular fish was meant to be caught due to the circumstances. Was fishing for Bluegill at the discharge 2 years ago of this small 30 acre crystal clear lake. Hooked a large bluegill on an ultralight and during the fight I thought the fish got hung. Next thing I know this gigantic bass is tail dancing at the boat attempting to spit the bluegill which it eventually did. Had I had a net in my hand I could have netted this fish that we estimated 10lb.
  22. Just splurge a little and use a quality flourocarbon. The cheap stuff will rear it's ugly head.

Sand the round head you have a Ned. But keep it 1/16 or it ain't finesse 😂
  24. It appears that these latter posts by experienced fisherman are making bold claims.......the bait monkey is a hoax. Say it isn't so 😳
  25. Jigs and spinnerbaits have always been a confidence bait. Wacky rig if I'm looking for numbers. My confidence baits have not really changed over the years even though I try other presentations with high expectations......end up back to the basics.
