Went out with a good fishing buddy looking for a few late afternoon today. Well it was a struggle to say the least. Weather completely changed from earlier this week and so did the bite. Tossing a weightless senko down a rip rap bank and finally a double tap and swim off..rare back and boom goes the dynamite...so long 7ft2 Ike rod. Ended up catching the fish...a dink. Caught one on a lizard off a bed. Then got 2 on a black buzz bait.

The past 2 days I haven't gone out until 930 am and I've caught 12 bass on a black buzzbait. I don't think time of day is super important with a top water until summer when the water gets hot.

More of the same today...6 fish on the buzz bait again. Lost a 5lber on a craw tube.

I've been catching alot on a senko as well until today. Threw me off cuz people say its the best follow up bait.

Green pumpkin or June bug..if I had to choose 1 it would be GP.

Kinda hoping for more of the same tomorrow..weather looks identical. Probably bring a frog and a Texas rigged lizard for a follow up bait. I used a senko for a follow up today and for some crazy reason they wouldn't touch it.

Went to my local pond for a few hours this morning. Was cloudy with a light wind and rain off and in. Caught 7 largemouth between 2-3.5lbs on a black buzz bait. Solid outing.

I fish public county run ponds so there are no homeowners. That of course doesn't mean ive never encountered idiots. A few summers ago I was fishing the channel connecting two ponds...there was a couple drunk morons on the boat ramp dock being loud and stupid. Oh well whatever I guess...until the drunkest guy decides to throw a half empty beer into the bed of my truck bouncing it off my back window. The thought went thru my mind that I should get ahold of this dumb@#% and smash his face in. Instead I got a hold of a park guy I know...he called the cops...20 minutes later the guy was in the back of a car getting hauled out for public intox.

What do you like throwing during the spawn when you can't see fish on beds? My water is to off color to see spawners but my water temps are mid 60s so I'm positive its happening. Caught 3 today on a weightless senko but couldn't get a touch on moving baits

I kept 6 nice gills today for a fry!

I use the slip shot rig. My setup is like this: 7ft medium fast spinning rod...size 30 reel...6-8lb mono. On the business end: 1\8th oz cylinder weight,bead,bobber stop, size 1\0 vmc light wire worm hook and a roboworm or small size Berkley bottom hopper. I always use a drag pause retrieve.

In my experience I've never known any girls that love to fish the way I do. I'm not saying they don't exist I've just never seen it.That said two of my best friends have wives that fish with them fairly often...all my other buddies ladies aren't into it. My girlfriend likes to fish with me a few times a year but for several years after we started dating she loved going and would tag along all the time with me. On occasion she would go by herself when I was working...she would text me and ask me what she should throw and what spots she should try.

I used to use a regular 4in fluke...this year I've been using the swimon and have liked it so far

Tilapia can be pink...maybe baby tilapia?

I've caught bass on shaky head from ice out til a few weeks before ice up.

I caught a 6lber in cold water last October that fought like a 3lber...no issue at all getting her in. To counter that I caught a 7 last April that straightened one of my trebles out and opened up one of my split rings.

I thought it sucked living in Iowa dealing with ice for several months. Then I hear from you brothers to the north that have ice even longer and on top of that have to wait for the season to open. Then I realize I've been fishing alot already and think maybe Iowa ain't so bad.

Are there any baits you go thru cycles of productivity with? Lipless is that way for me. The past few years I killed em on lipless...this year I haven't had a bite on one.

Fishing close to shore in 2 foot of water. Straight retrieve....medium pace.

Got out again yesterday...heard the water temps around me are 58ish. Caught 4 bass again between 1.5 and 4 lbs. Green pumpkin chatterbait accounted for 3 and my biggest came on a weightless green pumpkin stick bait(bps stik o I think).

It was a good outing for sure especially since I was out less then 2 hours. Normally I'd agree but I've got a hankering for fried fish
