Opinon St. Croix Mojo Vs. Quantum Energy PT Rod Vs Other higher priced one
St.Croix® by far.....St. Croix's Super High End Rods SCVI blank run 62,000,000 modules. The SCII blank (Mojo & Premier) is a mid modules blank, said to be in the 30 mil to 40 mil modules range.. Just the .02¢ of a rod builder... Tight Lines!!!!

Older Daiwa question.
Off the top of my head I forget what year these reels were circulating (no date on the schematic), probably old enough to be discontinued (no factory parts support). The reels have no IAR (4 point bail stop), and rear drags with only 3 pads (and small pads at that), small coil bail return spring and according to the schematic i'm looking at no crank or pinion bearings (bushing reel)... Who knows you probably got the better deal......Tight Lines!!!!

Took apart my first reel today...
Don't waste your money on Hot Sauce for the reel (let the quantum user's have it). Garcia bottles a good reel oil and grease, use them or take a look here... http://www.***/shopping/shop/store/reel-repair-supplies01.html As far as cleaning parts, if your going to break the reel open then clean them all. For re-lubing the reel, grease on the main drive gear teeth only, and oil (one drop) on bearings. Do not try to lubricate the one-way with grease, it only gets a light oil swab. Revo stx=Quality!
Fish Fast, The STX is a fine reel, I really like my S-L and it doesn't have the spool braking system the STX has, but still a great reel.. Like stated above your Quantum® isn't well. The oneway issue and noise will do nothing but get worse. If you still have warranty on the reel send it in for service, if not get it serviced anyway... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Daiwa Megaforce Dynaflo guides - sucketh?
Take and find some nylon black thread, ("A" size rod thread would be best, but) wrap it tightly at the base of the tube of the new tip once mounted. Wrap enough thread to extend out from the base to 1/2".. Smooth the thread out and coat with a clear finger nail polish (if you can't get your hands on some rod finish). Keep the rod turning until the coating doesn't sag/cured.. That is a field fix... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!

Testing sensitivity
Yup there it is....
-
Testing sensitivity
Yes... I have seen anglers with buddies test rods in the store by placing the rod tip at the adams apple in the throat and humming softly. But in my personal opinion, there is only one way to really test the sensitivity of a rod.. That is mount the reel, string the rod up and go fishing. There is a whole lot of difference between someone humming and the subtle vibration of a fish picking up a bait. Just a builders .02¢ Tight Lines!!!!!

Revo Winch
Yea 4.9:1 always felt to slow and sluggish to me, especially after using the old round reels in the 5.1:1 to 5.4:1 high speeds...LOL Tight Lines!!!!

Revo Winch
In my opinion that GR will work for both. I use a 5.1:1 Quantum.... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
