Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

@PhishLI, that's a beauty. Add two pounds for catching it in cold.

@keagbassr: Man, you are the bass whisperer.

Had some high school kids troll over to me after I caught this, casted within 10 feet of me. I usually don't engage but I wasn't feeling it this morning. They tangled with my line so I clipped theirs. I found it unwise to continue engaging with minors. They decided to park dad's basscat directly on top of where I'd been casting for a solid 30 minutes. I left. They got a good laugh out of forcing me off a spot. Teach your kids how to act. I didn't deserve this. Stupid morning

Okay, they have a boat and can go ANYWHERE and they take your spot. Pathetic. Sorry it happened.

honestly though. embarassing for everyone involved. me for engaging, them for having wrinkle-free brains

Try that crap in some places in Alabama and you'll end up getting shot.

The last people I'd want to tick off on the water are bank anglers.   Sorry that happened to you, no shame on your part.....I might have handled it far more rashly than that.   Those kids represent so much that's wrong with our society.

yeah there are some unfriendly parts of texas that wouldn't react so well, either. And those mannerisms won't serve the kids well later in life.
but I can always be kinder and better than I was today, I'm focused on that.

A little quality showing up but not much quantity. It's fall feeding frenzy time, but the weather keeps jumping between summer and winter. Lows in the upper 20's last week, with 80's expected by Thursday. Crazy weather.

I was at my local go-to pond today. I fished my normal bass gear and lures with not a bight. I had my ultralight gear with me so I decided to try that. Caught 3 smaller largemouths in a short time. Nothing big. But I didn't get skunked. Thank goodness for ultralight gear.

I would've started casting onto their deck and ripping rods off, but that's just me.  Of course, being Canadian I'd have to apologize after each combo hit the water. lol

Hey,

Decided to cast out a few minutes before work and ended up landing a pretty impressive peacock bass, just wanted to share. Have a nice day everyone

@Friggs: Speaking of ultralight bass fishing, I've been thinking of rigging one rod this winter with 6-lb. test. Because I often fish bogs choked with weeds, I have 17-lb. mono or 20-lb. braid on every outfit, but sometimes I fish open water and 6 lb. test would be plenty. While bass fishing, I've landed 20 lb. pike in Lake Michigan, Lake Superior, Canada, and the Mississippi River with 6-lb. mono. 6-lb. mono gives better action to lures and casts way yonder.

Had an hour after sunset on the way to the grocery store.  Caught 5 LMB all on the buzzbait.  Biggest was around 3 lbs.  Missed a bigger one off some rip rap but glad to catch the ones I did!

Front rolling in tonight.  Can't wait to hit it after work.  😎🎣

Real sorry to hear this. My dad would have yanked my ear off if he heard of me being rude to anyone. You have a lot more self-control than I have. Goodonyamate!

Baron, reading Disco Chefs story made me think the same thing! Also I see lots of rocks on the bank and I have a durn good arm! Daddy's Bass Cat would need a new Gel-coat!

Are you kidding me? You went fishing on the way to the grocery store? That's serious hard-core there. I'm not even in your league. Glad you didn't stop on the way home from the grocery. Everything would have been thawed except momma's temper!

Fall feed bag is on now.  Launched at 8:30.  By 3pm I had gotten 31 LM in the boat and failed to boat 5 or 6 other good ones.  Two different times I was trying to shake my crank free from a snag and had a bass attack it and pull it off the laydown. I boated both of them and then told them how dumb they are.  They are in line at the buffet.  Look at the belly on this fish!  I can't believe it's still eating.  Also saw a bald eagle and got to watch 2 big bucks fighting about 30 yards from me.  It was an A+ day on the water.

Very impressive. I don't think I have had a day with that many bass in at least 8 years. And the ones you caught were really nice ones too.

Hey,

Went out before work again and brought in a baby peacock and a nice crappie. TGIF

Oh yeah lol 70 percent or more of my lures are some kind of spinner. I love the things. Very simple but deadly, they don't often fail to catch fish

I love them too. Quantity-wise, the greatest two days of my life were using a Mepps undressed brass bladed-spinner. It was the only one on the trip and so my paddling partner didn't have one. He caught a fourth of what I caught.

Got this 18.5 inch fish under my boat just now. Caught it on the Uv speed worm - watermelon red color. Got a couple of his friends too- all in around 20 minutes.

I hope to get out for a couple hours later in the day also after some chores…

I'm a little embarrassed to say it, but I probably have 80 in line spinners in different varieties lol...of which I only go to maybe 5 or 6 different ones. I'm an addict I have a problem 😬

Which five do you like, Steve? Nearly all my inline spinners are the basic Mepps in brass. I buff the one I'm using with steel wool before using it.

For an unexplained reason, I just like the dressed Mepps Aglia's with the brown, squirrel dressings. If you guys have better luck with a different set up, please share.

That's a really great day. Two Bucks, and Eagle, and gobs of big bass! Were you cranking shallow of deep? I'm going Sunday and may need to break out the cranks.

Panther Martin and rooster tails...also a few by "Joe's flies". They are really well made and bass like them well enough, they are on the lighter side though, most of them are around 1/4
