Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

I almost didn't go today.  I had a family function and would only be able to fish until 10.   I don't set an alarm to go fishing, and I slept until after 7 (gasp).   I caught a 18 inch Spot on my 3rd cast at 8:13.   I went fishless for a while.  I had already decided that I had to leave at 10, or first bass after 9.  I caught a 14 incher at 9:39 and headed back home.   Two isn't great, but it's a bunch better than not going, even if the trip is short.

It’s just about time to have Mrs Woody give you a haircut again.

@Pat Brown are those holes in your jeans? That’s a violation of the fashion code.

Just the pants I can hook with a jerkbait and cut it out and not make the mrs. mad 😉

I won't be wearing em to my mom's for Thanksgiving that's for sure!

Water cooling down and @Pat Brown is warming up. Woody's scalp has to be warming up too with that thick crop up top, which is a good thing given that winter is only going to get colder and colder and colder.

Had a buddy in town from AZ and we got to fish, lots of species and smaller LM and spots, I only got one decent smallie all weekend. All in all we got LM,SM, ky spots, rock bass, drum, bluegill, shellcracker, redbreast, and the highlight was a Flathead catfish that took a live bluegill 30-40 feet down

Had maybe best couple hours of bass fishing I've ever had.  I found a concentration of bait that was so thick, I got false bottom returns over about a city block...13 feet down over 28 FOW.  Started throwing a 5 inch spoon and immediately started whacking them.  A couple over 5...another 10 over 3.

Got a couple of nice smallmouth yesterday. On the fish in the second picture. I felt a hard pull on the line, but when I pulled back it didn't budge. I turned to my partner and said, "I'm hung up", and pointed my rod directly at the snag to let it break off. As I was waiting for it to break the "snag" started running hard to the left. I kind of freaked out. About the time I got myself under control the fish launched out of the water like a rocket. I got a good look at it, and my heart started racing again. I was afraid that we were not going get it, but after several hard dives at the boat she was in the net. My partner got a couple nice ones as well. What a day.

Those are absolute PIGS! Love it when those "snags" start moving!

@Fishlegs: Big bass! Did you get a length or weight on them?

@GreenPig: You taunt me with that nasty cap.

Yeah, I'm not too happy about that nasty cap either. But then, when you get your butt whipped by four touchdowns, you better just hush up and leave the Orange hat in the trunk. 🤐

That one is a Nichols Lake Fork spoon...but I don't think it would have mattered if I tossed a soup spoon.  If they didn't eat it on the initial fall, they had no hesitation tracking it down on the retrieve.   Funny, I don't think I had any hits doing a big lift/drop....but plenty while swimming it

Any favorites for ball bearing swivels for these baits?

This one comes with.  Those that don't,  I just tie direct....maybe that's why I have less luck with others...lol

Had a solid northwest wind which typically equals lockjaw but I had a free hour or so. One bite one catch, ol monster/ol reliable.

Ain't much but it's bass

The new spool for my tournament pro finally came in today. I'm gonna go out in the cold and throw a red eye shad with it tomorrow because I just enjoy backlashing fresh spools immediately

NWS said 50 degrees and a 17mph north wind. Sounds like good and easy fishin weather.

Chrome red eye shad and a football head jig did the work for three fish. Three bites three pics. Life is dandy

Got out for an hour before dark, so I stayed near home. Very windy conditions.
Got one on the big bites  green pumpkin craw. Went to my money seawall that usually pays off. The fish was there, and was moving to the right. Solid hookset , but it came off. It didn’t budge at all . I was fishing the magnum speed worm, which is a lot of worm for a 4/0 hook.
Kept on and had another one but by then it was too dark to tell exactly where it was - throw in an unknown clump of weeds + the wind , and I missed that one too…. At least it wasnt a skunk …

Whenever you guys write about big bass coming unbuttoned, I feel less alone in the world.
