No pics for now, but I caught a couple from the bank on the 6-inch Bacca Burrito swimbait in the Table Rock color. A four flat, a three, a 2, and the smallest one I've ever caught on a big bait at about 1.7lbs. Will update with photos in a few days.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

Yep. They're great.

Yes Sir

Biggest bass of the year so far, 6.06lb on a 3/4 oz bone lipless. Was very overcast and wind was sustained ~15 mph with gusts over 20 with a cold front that just moved in a couple of days ago. Threw a gold lipless at first and caught a few fish right off the bat, but felt like bone was a better move given the water clarity and overcast conditions. Caught 15 total plus 2 tilapia, all but one on the lipless, the odd man out was on a bladed jig.

Saw some bass pushing some fingerling shad up into a pocket and picked off a few smaller fish before I got this one to hit.

Accidentally snagged a small 3 foot gator on the lipless, too. Little guy was sitting on the bottom and I snagged it in the back, for that first ~20 seconds I thought I had a big DD on until the fight got too weird and I realized what happened. Thankfully the hook pulled right as I got him to the bank, and he went on his way none the worse for wear.

Dying to get into a really big bass, but this one sure felt good after such a long dry spell.

Good looking bass, @GreenPig.

@Aaron_H is back!

Warm, sunny day. Air 75, water 50. Ice went out (again) on Tuesday.

Not a good day. Clipped a deer on the way to the lake. She peeled the tail light off trailer! Put in and caught a few as I was headed up the lake. Got a mile from the truck and elec motor quit! Then it would run off and on to get me back to the truck.

Try again tomorrow.

"Back" is a strong word considering how little I've been able to fish lately, but I sure do appreciate it! Been able to get out 3 times in 2026 so far (missed all of February sadly) which is already 75% of my trips last year so here's to hoping. It definitely felt great to be out there again and I was fortunate to connect with a quality fish and some decent numbers.

I'd like to break the 8lb mark this year, last one was Dec 2024.

Randomly woke up this morning at 3:30am and like any sane angler I figured the time be better spent on the water than tossing and turning in bed. It's been unseasonably warm and I wanted to test how early I can get a night bite going.

With that being said I am so happy to have gotten my butt out of bed!! Didn't get the weight on the first fish but man that thing was a meatball, my guess is 5lbs and some change, caught her pausing a wakebait for about 10 seconds before she decided to hammer it. The second came right before sunrise on a glidebait fished verrryyy slowly and came in on the scale at 6lbs.

What's interesting to me is they had the length of say a 4 maybe 5lb fish but their girth was ridiculous! I love catching these Northern strain largies they get round like a basketball lol.

Spinnerbait. Last Saturday was "winter", this Saturday is gonna be "heat wave from hell"!!!! That's Iowa spring weather.

Good luck with your new boat. Take your toolbox with you and wear your PFD!

My first bass of ‘26 from a week ago. Landed less than 50%. Vision 110, Simcoe 75, Wameko 60.

Got up to Headwaters Lake for two days of shiner fishing with my old grade school buddy. We had a March cold front come thru just before we got there. Water temp was 65 degrees & the wind was honking up to 30 mph gusts with sustained 20 mph. Few bites the first day but we managed to get some better fish on the second day when the sun was shining.

Holy cow. Great catch! It’s hot here also. But our water was only 44 degrees give or take. So the bite wasn’t good at all.

Holy mackerel, Al! You've landing the beasts in the north and Dwight and Aaron are landing the beasts in the south. Like I said to Dwight, you sure can cowboy, Al.

Got a few today. First full day out there. Water temps still low 40s where I am
