Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

This beaut is a fattie and the keitech football jig with a zman trd craw is a smallie smasher in Lake Michigan.  My guesstimate is over 4.5...

I've been fishing a lot of smaller baits lately. I don't really do spinning, and casting 1/4 to 3/8 oz baits on a medium-heavy rod isn't fun most of the time.

another site had a sale on Shimano Curado rods last week, and I decided to buy a 7'5" medium power extra-fast action Curado casting rod.

Took it out today. The tip isn't as soft as I was hoping, but should work well for an all-purpose rod. I like it so far. Casted pretty far, and all the fish I hooked stayed pinned.

I caught several bass and crappies fishing a Slender Pointer 97MR and an 110+1 Junior. Wanted to try a small underspin and a small rattletrap, but didn't get around to those in the two hours I could fish before it got dark. (Or maybe I like fishing jerkbaits too much!)

My brother was very confident that his latest Flex Seal effort on our trusty old Jon boat would do the trick this time. I was just happy that I didn't need to bring my big Dewalt cordless and the drill pump. We pack up to the limit, so I didn't need this contraption of hoses cramping my style. Also Lithium Ion power tools don't fare well in rain, and rain was on the way.

Very little time went by when I noticed my 3600 box floating at my feet yet again. No pump. Now what? My brother felt around under the shelf in the front of the boat and struck gold, sort of. He pulled out a truly disgusting, skanky, moldy, grout sponge. A horrific, stinky, squishy, Petri dish. I was driving, the water was pooling in the back of the boat, so I was on sponge bailing duty. I love me some bassin', but I don't like puking, so I wasn't squeezing that nasty thing bare handed. No way. No how. Nope. Thank god he had latex gloves in the truck, or I would've had to bail with his baseball cap.

My brother struck first throwing a Triple Trout, but then the bite went cold. Couldn't find them for nothing, but we were just throwing the wrong baits. I tied on a Rapala shallow runner and started whacking them. Switched up to a Livingston Bullnose and kept the rally going. Pickerel, bass, and crappie were all aggressively blasting the baits. Just a bunch of cookie cutter buck bass mostly, but we used spinning rods and had a blast anyway. #NoSkunk!

Nice outing @PhishLI. Here’s an amateur tip (not pro tip because we are in the leaky Jon boat club) : JB weld is 100 times cheaper and 1,000 times more effective than anything with the name FLEX in it. Buy the one that looks like a roll of coins. I used about 1/10th of a $5 tube of it on my 1957 boat about 15 years ago and it still hasn’t leaked a drop

Lunch break fish! Caught 4 in the 15 minutes I had and had to leave them biting, which is always heartbreaking.  This smallie is a really nice one for this glorified creek we call a river in Western Iowa.IMG_20210426_122615993_HDR.thumb.jpg.0c9a37fe64236f2fee040578912424f0.jpg

I'm fortunate enough to work in a town that has a river running through it, with multiple easy accesses for walleye, smallmouth and catfish.  I get an hour break so I scarf down my food so I have max time to fish!

I had a job close to a really good set of ponds and would do the same thing.  It was the Angry Whopper era, lol.

Typical lunch break fish from those days:

Put the jerkbaits down and went pitching and swimming plastics today. Turned out pretty well too.

Caught a real nice one, a decent one, and a good one, plus some smaller bass too. All on a Rage Menace on a 3/8 oz ZMan bullet swing jig.

The second largest fish got tangled in some gnarly wood, and I had go into knee deep water and get her out. I was fairly sure that was one fish I was not going to land, but I found out again that 12# Tatsu is a lot stronger than it's diameter and rating would suggest.

(First two pics of the same "real nice" fish)

No pics for the pics thread lol. I stopped at a new pond on the way home from work. Just walked the bank with my Bass X MLXF spinning rod and a Daiwa Revros LT2000 with a weightless Zoom Trick TR. Caught four bass in 45 minutes. None over 8” lol. Tons of turtles and scads of ducks, but not any bass of any size! Didn’t even take a pic!

What color were the ducks hitting?

They’d hit anything. There’s a big sign Do Not Feed The Ducks. Of course, goobers feed the ducks. So as soon as you show up, they swarm near you looking for a handout.

But, they are a sign of a good pond. A hen swims by with six ducklings. Next time it’s five, then four. Some big bass is happy!

I landed this10.3 pound bass at Tepic yesterday.  Caught this one, along with a 6.3 and 6.7 bouncing a 6th. Sense Mini Mag square bill through this submerged tree in 28 feet of water.  I was close enough to shore, I could peddle to the bank while holding the bass in the water, and take a quick picture.  I am having difficulty taking pictures of bass while by myself in a kayak.  Would appreciate any advice from kayak anglers on taking pictures with as little harm as possible to the fish.

y’all missing any pets or small farm animals?

Congrats on the DD. You could get a holder for your cell phone to mount on the kayak. Then get a Bluetooth hand held device that takes the pic from your phone when you press the button.

That's a great fish, congrats!

When I'm in the kayak, I like to take pictures of them on the measuring board. I can sometimes get a decent selfie, but I'm not so worried about getting my ugly mug in the picture as I am getting a good shot of the fish on the board.

Caught her on brand new Fury 705CB and Fuego 6.3:1 I had picked up today and spooled up right before leaving. She ate a chatterbait after 3 turns of the reel. Not bad for first fish on new combo!

I fish a pond with a bunch of little dinks around that size, its funny though because they grow a few inches every year.
