I was able to snag 2 Abu Ike 7' medium delay series rods yesterday at a local shop that is getting out of fishing. $139.99 cdn and 70% off. Really sad to see another shop get out of fishing.

It's almost as if it was sent from the heavens.

After a winter of trying to decide whether or not to get a Curado 200K, told myself the only way to put an end to it was to buy it. Leftie 6.2:1. Application will be the reel for my general purpose, 1 rod 1 reel, go-to bass combo, salt or fresh. Thank you Bait Monkey and Kittery Trading Post.

Well, I’ve been laying low for a few months while the mountain was open- so much going on I haven’t had really any time to myself since last fall.

Now that I’m off for a while I decided to warm up my trigger-pulling finger and get set up with some saltwater gear.  Really got into it last year at my buddy’s cabin on the beach in MA and after pulling blues, stripers, black bass, false albies and others it’s hard to avoid obsessing about getting kitted out for the likely scenarios while the ice is out.

I set up my Exsence DC with my 8’ green/cork swimbait Crucial that’s good for 1 to 3oz and I use that for lighter plugging, topwater and jigging.  Works amazing, could not imagine a lighter and more crisp rig for feeling light bites or keeping a super spook/sw Sammy walking in the strike zone all day.

I also picked up a chunking setup too.  10’ Team Daiwa Surf MH spinning rod, fast blank and good for 2-6oz baits.  Paired it with a KK baitfeeder III reel w a 2 stage drag and will be using it for weight & bait along with really big jigs.

I also grabbed a 9’ Brutus combo for a beater rig, good for 1-5oz that I only really use for gigantic topwaters like the 7 & 9” docs.

Then I grabbed a huge stack of baits.  Literally filled an entire tackle bag in the past few weeks.  Super spooks to docs, diamond jigs to bucktails and Ronz, SPs, spoons, terminal tackle, weights etc etc etc.

It’s going to to be a heck of a season.  Can’t wait to grill on the beach and wrestle some salt donkeys!  Fresh water is right around the corner and I’m excited to get out but I have so much new gear to use at the beach it’s got me buzzing to get it all wet and fish slimey.  Cheers BR, the snow is almost gone!

Picked up a Calcutta 200d for cranking and a Zodias 7'2" H for hollow body frogs. Now I need to find a rod to match the Calcutta and a reel for the Zodias. Thank you bait monkey!

Saw a Megabass Destroyer Oneten Special. It was sweet, but I really don't need a $400 jerkbait rod. Must resist...

Not really a big purchase, but picked up a couple packages of a senkos today, the really bad part is the bait monkey has got ahold of my 4 year old! He about cried when I told him I didn’t want to stop to look at fishing stuff... he’s done for!

This monkey has got to weigh like 1,000 lbs by now...

Walmart has been pretty good to me lately... but not my bank account. i found a bunch of 300 yard mustard 4 carrier braid for 5 dollars, some mustard hooks for 1$ and power pro slick 8 for 8.50$. Some other good finds in there too...

Found a Lew's Mach Crush 7' MH rod in the clearance rack at Dick's today.  Came from combo missing the reel.  Couldn't pass it up for $49.  It paired up nicely with the Lew's Tournament MB that I picked up a couple of weeks ago!

Oh, please excuse the mess on my workbench!  I've been trying to do some cleaning and mending and it was the only place available with some light for a pic!

Fantastic deal!!

That's the Dick's exclusive Mach Crush rod. Note the difference in colors from the regular rod, on the exclusive version the orange and black colors are reversed. I actually like this version better.

Yeah I was thinking it didn't look right in the store so I did a little research once I got home and found out that Dick's had their own version with slightly different colors.  I agree with you: I like this version better!

Just put together a new box dubbed "Various Lipless Crankbaits", it consists of different brands of lipless crankbaits, with a good color selection theme for each...

I love those stickers, but dang it they are expensive!

Just ordered 2 whopper ploppers and some swimbaits.... Bait monkey strikes again!

so the weather is finally starting to break in the great state of Michigan.  After fishing for the first time with the boat last week there were some things that I thought should have had with me. However, I did not have certain things.  Big thing was that the lake I went too, when I arrived and started launching the boat I noticed a whole bunch of shad either dying or dead at the ramp.  The Material about the lake that I had been studying said nothing about shad. I really have nothing other than cranks that mimic shad

I made two stops yesterday on pay day 2nd picture is form Walmart where, they are still clearancing out tackle in the bargain section.  from that section I picked up two packs of mustad KVD duo-lock snaps size 2 for 50 cents each.  Also they had 10 packs of zman greenpumkin/orange craw crawdadz's for $3. From the regular section I bought Berkley pogy swimming shad in the white shad color( dead ringer for shad I think).  Continuing with swim baits I bought pro blue red rage swimmers. Some Berkley blue black chigger craw for jigs or T-rigging, strike king blue/black 1/4 Minnie king spinner bait, eagle claw stand up jigs in 1/8 and 1/4, ad finally some 1/2 oz water gremlin worm slip sinkers for t-rigs

2nd stop at Duhnham's 1st pic. I bought a rapala husky jerk (HJ10) in Helsinki shad ( silver with a chartreuse stripe down middle) and 2 Booyah Boo jigs 3 /8 oz in greenpumkin and black/blue.  These are the first bass jigs I have ever bought. I think I'm going to put the blue/black jigger craw and the greenpumkin crawdadz on the corresponding color jig for trailers.

I am Going fishing either Sunday or Monday on the Saginaw bay.  I am not sure yet if it will be for walleye or C&R small mouth yet.  Decisions, Decisions

I've got quite the collection also. Not to mention the closet full of their "free" t-shirts. Make me sad every time I see them in my closet and relize that they are the most expensive t-shirts I own. haha.

The bait monkey hasn't gotten me too bad this winter, as I spent most of my play money on reloading supplies, AR, 1911, and M1 Garand parts, and other shooting related junk.

I did moderately stock up on several styles/colors/sizes of the Berkley line of hardbaits, for no other reason than I am bored with Strike King.

Other than that I just topped off the stock of my staple soft plastics, jig components, and terminal tackle.

I need to get back into the reloading room too but, for the last month my brain has been wired for fishing.  Also, I need to get my t/c triumph receiver striped, painted and get the scope mounted.  I have the mounts, scope, and all the tools to mount it I have just been putting it off.  Even built a spray booth to paint the receiver and than like I said than I got fishing on the brain bad.
