$4.97 is the regular price for ratl traps in the walmart stores around here. problem is they are usually sold out of the good colors. yesterday the local walmart had red eye shads on sale for $5.00.

Most of the local Walmarts have 832 Sufix braid 150 yards in clearance for 11 bucks aand Strike King sexy shad 5XDs on sale for $4.50

Checked mine today and they’ve got nothing on sale unfortunately. Maybe soon!

thats a good deal for a 5XD. didn't find any of them on sale here. Don't see much for suffix at the local walmarts.

they have a ton of spiderwire, but I am not a fan.

Yeah I went to about 5 or 6 of them around town. Very surprising how much variance there is from store to store as to what they don't have. Did you go to the one by the Legends or something?

Us extreme northerners gotta wait an extra 3-4 wks till our Walmarts put the old stuff on sale.

Legends, Bonner springs, and Shawnee mission.

Legends has limited fishing supplies.

Bonner Springs and Shawnee Mission are usually better, but they did not have many sales going on.

In preparation for open & cooler water, I added a few lake specific pattern Shad Raps.

Trebles & spilt rings will be upgraded before these get wet though.

Nice selection.

My prep for open cooler water was similar. I purchased the top two baits in this pic. The patterns are two of the Bass forage on my waters, Golden Shiners and Perch. Also replacing the split rings and trebles.

Very Nice ~

I'm looking to mimic the schools of walleye, carp & perch fry that inhabit much of the water's here.

The crankbaits I have mimic perch, bluegill, crappie and golden shiners - which are part of the main forage in the few local lakes/bay I fish.

what are those called? I was thinking of adding the Duo Realis Spin version to my arsenal but I'd be open to those.

After nearly 3 decades of search & rescue, if yours is not an inflatable, I'd like to recommend you consider a 'brighter' colored life jacket.

It will dramatically improve your chances of being located alive.

Because other than that PDF -  the top of your head is all we can see; and it's a relatively tiny target.

I always get mine in more natural colors to match the background for when I do wear it while fishing. Never thought about what color it needs to be if I ended up in the water. I use a standard PFD. I don't trust inflatables to work.

Not to hi-jack this thread - but while I can totally understand your thought process, I can tell you with quite a bit of confidence, that your 'decision' is dramatically reducing what we call 'probability of detection' (chances you will be found).  And that means from the air & the water.   Understanding that very little is visible above water (tops of your shoulders & your head) I hope you can see why.

Perhaps get in the lake in your 'natural colored' life jacket and have your picture taken from 200 or 300 yards away; especially if you fish big water.   Not a lot to see.   Understanding that rescue crews rarely have little more than an 'idea' of where you may be - they are going to have to see you to save you.  Almost always requires quite a bit of searching - meanwhile you might be either freezing to death, bleeding to death, if no pfd,  just flat out drowning or any number of life threatening & undesirable deals.

Also brings to light the importance of filing an accurate float plan - meaning telling a responsible adult where you will be and when you will return.

Good Luck

This is excellent advice and I will take it next time I am on a boat.

Never thought about that until now; however, it makes perfect sense. I will be replacing my life vests when I start fishing bigger lakes where being located becomes a factor! Thanks again for your service!

I'm guilty of wearing a natural colored PFD and I'll continue to wear it as it has become a favorite. However, being seen is foremost on my mind and I try to take steps to hopefully put the odds in my favor. I carry a panel marker on the kayak, but that is only good if I'm not separated from the yak. I also carry a water-activated strobe and signaling mirror (stored/attached) on the PFD along with two glow sticks, one red and one IR.

I have to correct this. I was traveling around and had to stop at a Walmart only to find a clearance sale on some fishing items. Nothing spectacular but they had 7 inch power worms for $1. If I didn't have a bunch already I would have bought them.

Lucky Craft LC 1.5 spin. It just needs a quick cleaning as it's in really great shape. I thought it was some cheap lure when I 1st found it. 1st time I've ever even seen one. Didn't know it was actually a decent find till I googled it.

Nice score you got there....the first day of fishing last year, I found a whopper pobber on the side of the shore. Just a few cleaning with hook replacement. It's back in action.

Finally found some magnum Shine Glides for sale online. I got extremely lucky to get the one I got a couple months ago, but in about the last color I wanted. Now I've got one in Bone and one in Hitch hopefully in my possession soon.
