Thanks @NorthernBasser! Been looking at those, but have heard the sensitivity isn't that great. This will be my jig setup so want as much sensitivity as I can get. It's such a good deal though!

Really? Where'd you hear that about the sensitivity?

Maybe not that great isn't the right term, but couple guys said it in here:

Would love to hear your thoughts in there

I haven't used the Sierra yet. I did just buy one few weeks ago from TW tho, which I plan on using for jigs (7'3" heavy). The thing feels GREAT in my hands. The micro guides will just help with sensitivity.

I've read numerous reviews that say it's very sensitive. Also have seen posts here talking it up (I'll look in a sec). I know the guys at Tactical Bassin' have good things to say about it.

It's such a good deal I had to get one. I have some Fury's, which I really. And from what I hear the Sierra is quite the step up.

edit- Here's one thread talking about them.

Mine is super sensitive to me, definetly a big step up from the Fury. It's my nicest rod so I dont have anything else to compare it to.

Picked this up off Craigslist today for $160. 7'1" MH. I love the internet.

Shimano Aldebaran. Had thank you points on my credit card,  I usually cash them in at the beginning of the year. Got it for almost half price.

I didn't realize this was a thread until right now.  I haven't fished bass seriously in about 15 years so I have had to buy all new stuff over the last few weeks.  I'm about to start posting some photos of my purchases over the last week...

My brother helped me beat the bait monkey today. He does the estate sales, yard sales, garage sales, liquidation sales, auctions and then sells the better stuff on eBay to make a living. More or less his lower end stuff that he'll never use. Some used, some new. He was going to just give it too me for free but in the end $10 for beer.

I might have some of you beat this yr as far as money spent...  One can't do any serious fishing with out a boat..  Then I've had to buy all the stuff that goes with a boat.  Then there were a few packages of grubs.

BTW, I found a Black and yellow spinner in a tree at the lake I was fishing at today...  just in case any of you lost one

OK you win. I can't afford $18 grand in plastic worms.

Glad someone finally replied, it wouldn’t let me add a picture until someone did!

Several more photos after this if folks will keep posting.  Hoping to buy a boat on 1/20, as well, when I get to Texas.

Off to a good start but still have a ways to go to get to Master Hoarder Level like A-Jay.

That is a lot of stuff, personally I am a minimalist when it comes to tackle.

I usually am; but, my excitement to start fishing again coincided with a pretty good sale at Cabela’s.  Also, I found out Tackle Warehouse had a discount for veterans and I took advantage of it!

At the rate you're going, you're going to spend more on tackle than I'll spend on my canoe, mods, and trailer.

I’d been saving up for another project that isn’t going to happen now that I’m moving to Texas for work so I’ve “reappropriated” those funds!

Revo 4 SX HS’s.  One more on the way.  Ordered some rods to match them, but they’re being built at a rate of 2/mo over the next 6 months so no photos of those. First delivery on 1/18, the day before the first tournament after coming back!  I also picked up 2 spinning reels and 2 St. Croix Avid rods in 6’8” Medium/XF.

Bought a couple of Arashi cranks: flat side, silent square bill and deep in Blue back Herring and some Berkley split ring pliers. The cranks were cheap as chips in the Bargain Cave at my local Cabela's. Looking at adding a Fury 703sf for finesse tactics, inline spinners and 2 treble jerkbaits. Debating whether I should use my Shimano Sedona or feed the bait monkey and pair it with a new Daiwa LT reel.

Holy smokes! Now I know where most of the stock of the online Cabelas stuff on sale went! Was going to pick some up because I don’t have much of a budget, looks like I was too late haha.

Can't wait to hear the report on the snake.

I know i promised you one when i received mine... unfortunately due to a small health issue i only started fishing mine way to late in the season to expect a solid bass topwater bite. So far i have used them in 5 or 6 outings, i would say i´ve allready have some solid 15 hours off fishing on them.

 First impressions?

The swimming action is great, better on the 12" one than in the 8" wich was something to be expected. Casting them is not as great as someone would expect from such cylindrical shape, they don´t helicopter but assume a weird "U" shape most off the time especially if there´s wind... not to bad but also not great!

They have 2 line ties, 1 in the bill and other in the head, if you tie your line in the one on the bill they are exclusively a wake bait, tying on the head will get them to dive a little bit.

Hardware is pretty decent, at first i was a bit concerned that the hooks would get caught in the body all the time since the bodys are so thin but so far that´s not been the case.

One thing that i love on them is the fact that they are very light for they´re sizes with the 8" weighting only 1oz and the 12" 2oz. That way you don´t need specific big bait rods to fish them and can get way with most MH rods for the 8" and H rods for the 12".

Well...  this is all very fascinating but the main question is... and what about actually catching fish?

As i said i started fishing them to late in the year to have any realistic chances to catch a bass on them, so, so far pike as been the targeted species. So far i´ve got 3 small pikes on them:

pike-1.jpg

pike-2.jpg

pike-3.jpg

And ad a few more strikes that did´nt conected.

So, what´s the veridict so far?

Cool baits! I still need (way) more hours on the water with them before i can recomend them to anyone. And i´m really excited to see what they can do when the bass topwater season arrives (also curious to see how wels catfish are going to react to them). For example see how they compare to other wakebaits in the same price range. Until then i´ll keep trowing them for the thooty creatures...
