Eh at least with getting stuff from amazon it doesn't scream "tackle" as opposed to getting it from tacklewarehouse etc...I'm old enough now not to care any longer...but thats just me, old and grumpy

FYI they tend to run true to size or small. Size up if you want to wear a hoody under the top or anything more than long johns under the bibs.

Amazon has Abu Garcia Max X reels for $36 and Max Pro for 54, at least for me the Max Pro has an additional $10 off coupon making it $43. Pro is the better reel with 7+1 and the Max X has 4+1. These are actually decent reels and not sure you could beat them at this price point imho.

One of the days is usually a 10% off gift cards.  Buy them for yourself for next spring.  Then in the spring TW usually does a 20% sitewide sale.  Use giftcards to pay for sale items.  Effective discount is 28% off on basically everything they sell.  Some discounts are higher.  For things that are rarely on sale, 20% off is pretty good but an added 8% is even better.  

yeah if they do the gift cards it makes it OK. TW sales have been underwhelming considering they are traditionally 5-10% higher.

Thanks for this, snagged a Max Pro for the kiddo for Christmas. Just need to find a white rod on sale somewhere.

Ive tore both of those reels down and they are solid and should serve him well...i wouldn't worry about the color of the rod, at least I never cared about that stuff. If you have an Academy near you the H2O express house rods are decent especially for the price.

As someone who definitely needs a color match I’m going to suggest either the Abu Garcia Veritas which appears to be around $85.00 currently, then there is the Lews Mach 1 around $72.00 which appears to be white and black and if he’s not opposed to  white, grey & gold combination there is the BPS Carbonlite 2 rods at $120.00-$130.00 not currently on sale but will more than likely be. I do have a bps carbonlite 2.0 spinning rod and had a casting rod and currently have a Veritas pro tournament 🤔 casting rod that was being blown out by Sierra which quite a few of us on here bought but in all honesty I would wait and grab a Carbonlite personally or if you’re not opposed to used I have a Lews TP1 casting rod that I also really like if you can find one in your preferred length, power and action.

You would for sure not like any of my setups...they pretty much are a clash....I think the Veritas would be a good option for matching and is a decent rod...Kind of depends on what his budget is...

What am i missing, 20% + 10% =30% ? Not 28%… there has to be some math trick that I’m missing haha just can’t think of the exact calculation…
