That Simms deal is crazy. I have the challenger rain jacket and it's awesome. But in the winter I usually like having the flexibility to have a shell and insulated jacket as 2 different pieces so I can mix and match layers. I'll throw on a down coat under my rain jacket usually.

Still...at that price it's tempting.

That’s kinda what I was wondering too…how “heavy” is it? I don’t like being restricted and I prefer layering as well..but, a $400 jacket for only $120 is very tempting…(still on sale today BTW)

Just wanted to drop in and say hi to you all. I'm not as active 'round these parts anymore. Haven't bought anything in about 5 month. Haven't had the boat out in almost 5 months. Really sucks, but it'

For those wondering about the Simms jacket and how it fits.

I would highly recommend reading the reviews straight off of their website.

The majority say it runs true to size but a few have said it runs large.

Disregard..

Alpha Elite Fishing Tackle has a 20% off sale going. Not a ton of inventory but some good deals on JDM stuff. I've also ordered w/ them before and gotten some stuff I had a hard time finding elsewhere...

Copper State 25% off Dobyns, Phenix, Yamamoto, BBB, Bill Lewis, Buckeye, Roboworm, Bucca.

No code, through Sunday.

Sorry for doing this here but since folks were asking…

I received that Simms Challenger insulated jacket from Midway. It definitely fits pretty large. I’m 5’9 195 and I’m kinda swimming in it. It’s pretty dang long too. Covers well past my can. The sleeves are a surprisingly great fitting though. Not super long or wide. Fabric and construction are excellent and it’s not too heavy. Definitely keeping it as I could put several layers under for sub zero cold.

What size did you get? You said it fits pretty large, was it a large?

I received mine today as well. I agree it is a little on the large side, but not so big that I need to send it back for a smaller size.

My bad, guys. I got a Large.

The Hook Up Tackle has a BOGO on Lucky Craft lures (for the next 48 hours only) - look slike there are 146 or so items that fall under this BOGO

@RichF -- thank you for the info -- I had gone ahead and ordered a large (I did not want to miss out on the great price/figured I could always return it) -- I am a few inches shorter/a few lb's less than you, yet I do have quite wide shoulders -- I got the jacket late yesterday -- I would agree that it runs big (I have several large sized jackets from other companies that are all around smaller, I often find I am in between a medium/large size depending on the size/cut of the item ) -- I have not decided if I will keep it or send it back - since I will be using it in cold weather and will most likely layer underneath it (and want freedom of movement to cast, ect...)

Bass Pro/Cabela's has the Abu Garcia Zata spinning reel on clearance -- a $209 reel on clearance for $109

Abu Garcia Zata Spinning Reel | Bass Pro Shops

I don't have much experience with Abu Garcia reels - I have a Revo X (purchased used from a BR community member) paired with an Abu Garcia Veritas Winch and that has been a good pairing for me - I have two other Abu Rods (7'6" Med--Fast - 7'2" Med/Light--Mod.) so I might take the chance and purchase one of these Zata's.

Does anyone have any experience with the Abu Garcia Zata spinning reels ?

Tough question. If I only intended on using it for spring/fall fishing, probably. I wouldn’t need as many layers so sizing down would be fine. Since I’ll be using this for snowy activities too, the extra room in the large will be good.

I posted this awhile back when it was on sale but Under Armours fishing bibs are and extra 50% off on the UA website. All their outlet stuff is. Not much outdoors specific stuff but their rubber deck boots are around $50-60 which is decent.

The Ollie's around here get lots of Lucky Craft from time to time. I don't know where they're getting it from, but I've gotten probably 10 jerkbaits/crankbaits for $3-7/each.

I need to make a trip to Ollie's, dang never thought about that...thanks for that tip, my wife not so much.

..

Ollie's has been running a sale in my area. I just picked up bags of 10 lures each Bass Pro XPS paddle tail flukes for $1.99 per pack. Bought them out on the spot.

My strict price per piece is usually .25 cents to .50 cents maximum each. Anything over .50 cents is too pricey. And these at Ollie's beat my strict pricing by .05 cents each. Not too bad! Only .20 cents each. Being a cheapskate sure pays off sometimes!

It's hit or miss. The other day I swung in there and they had a bunch of random spoons and other stuff that isn't particularly sought after by these Mississippi bass, but don't sleep on Ollie's, they can definitely have some good stuff. I saw what looked like the last of a bunch of packs of owner hooks.

I checked out the BOGO at The Hookup a couple days ago; 0 stock on all colors of my favorite jerkbait, Lucky Craft Slim Pointer size 97. Seemed kinda' suspicious to me.

Thats what I have noticed also, they have these decent sales but you think ok to purchase something and they are out of stock...smdh

They may not have restocked from their holiday sales. They had many LC jerkbaits included in their 30/40/50% off sale. I got a bunch. On the other hand, they usually have a good number of out of stock colors regardless and I never browse their collections without filtering out the out of stock colors.

Swung by my local Ollie's this evening, found a few Glass Shad Rap 5s and 7s, a pack of Yamatanukis, and a Berkley Money Badger for $5/ea.
