Your Favorite Megabass Lure Besides.......

Featured Replies

Let's just state the obvious, Megabass Lures are expensive and the best of the batch is the Vision 110.  So I really don't buy them too often,  I may buy one a year or I might get one for Christmas.  Over the years I have used various models with mixed results.  I am wanting to know what Megabass Lure has produced for you besides the Vision 110?  For me it's been the Live-X Leviathan (but not much else from Megabass).  I caught this guy on it.....

It's on my list.  I have heard nothing but great things about it.

I really like the pop max. Great action, lots of color options, definitely my favorite popper

Agree:  pop max and dark sleeper.  Dark sleeper catches anything.

S crank 2.0’s have been good for me. At 1 oz, it’s easy to rocket them out and cover a lot of water.

The magdraft gets inhaled, it’s a really fun swimbait to fish. I also had an I Slide that got some really intense bites. Unfortunately the pike also like them and decided to keep mine.

Dark Sleeper has been an all around great performer for me this year.

If I had been thinking, I would have probably said "....besides the Vision 110 and the Pop Max".

The Pop max is a great bait.  I use to fish it all the time but my topwater fishing this year has been dominated by the Whopper Plopper.

That is one cool Pop Max you have there though.  It looks like it could tell a story?

3/4 oz Dark Sleeper... yep, catches bass but other stuff too.  Great for getting big waldos out of weed beds..

OK, then my next choice would be the OG style balsa squarebill, the Big-Z. This is a 3" fat bodied, 1oz balsa crank that I like using during pre-spawn, especially around off shore timber. Make sure you have your lure retriever, these will put a good dent in your wallet.

The pop-max, because of its versatility!

......and since I usually don't loose jerkbaits, I don't hesitate to but the

I own 3 Megabass baits, probably one of the few that fishes as much as I do that doesn't like their baits much. The Flap Slap is my favorite besides the 110 I have. I have a white python PopMax with several trips and nothing to show for it.

I've had some really good luck catching smallmouth with a 1/2oz Dark Sleeper. When they eat, they EAT IT. Like down the throat.

Cannot remember the name but I think it is called a Griffin? Small matte craw colored crankbait that works really well on the river for smallmouth.

My second most fished MB lure is definitely the Ito Shiner (actually it would be first ahead of the 110).

I actually like the PopX a lot.  It’s a great little popper.  I use a PopMax more often but for me it’s almost purely a walking bait, I have never been able to get it to actually pop very well.

For those of you guys who really like the Dark Sleepers, how on earth are you storing them in a way that keeps the tiny little tales from permanently kinking?  I’ve had decent luck with them but I find them to be impossible to store while on foot without having the tails get all mangled in very short order.
