Testing my new SLX 6.3 with a 3/16 spinnerbait and this pig interrupted me.

That's just terrible she interrupted you while you were casting.

Awful.

Congratulations on the 9.9 pounder, it is a beauty. Did you measure the length and girth of this bass?

  • Super User

I didn't. I was headed out to feed the cows and figured I'd make a few cast down at the pond. So I had that combo, pliers, and my scale. I truly wasn't even fishing.

I have had that happen to me as well on fishing trips I wasn't trying yet I caught memorable fish. Other fishing trips I do my best and the bass are much harder to catch. That is the type of bass people pay fishing guides hundreds of dollars to catch and even then they are not guaranteed one of that size. What makes it a truly awesome catch is that you caught it from land. I see you live in Georgia, that is one of my favorite states to fish since it has the most black bass species of any state.

What's really amazing to me is I've caught two bigger than her and three close to her size in my 1.1 acre pond. My fishing buddy had just called me and I had my ear piece in talking to him when I hooked her. After I finally lipped her I realized he was laughing at me. So I ask him what's so funny? He said I hollered get the net 3 or 4 times. I may have in the moment.

Yes it did. It's a great casting reel and surprisingly smooth.

Awesome fish!

Have mercy. I wish I could accidentally pin a football like that.

Rude fish, though. Interrupting your testing sesh like that.

Way to go, will you be mounting it or did you put her back in the pond?

She was back in the water in under a minute. My fat girls are too precious to kill. Only way I'll ever keep one from anywhere over 3 lbs is if it's a lake record.

Wow!  That's a huge fish.  Congratulations!

I love the optimism of a man who carries his scale on an outing to test his new equipment. Awesome !
