Should I go fishing? Conflicted on this one,

I know you already went fishing and in late to the party, but this is the time of year that you want to be in the water, for several reasons.  First off, it's less crowded with guys going hunting, the kids and vacationers are off the water so there's less boat traffic.  The fish are probably scattered and chasing bait which can be tough be it forces you to really search and use different techniques.  I learn something everytime I go, but the fall is the best time for me before it gets too dang cold too really learn your lake and the fish pattern

  • This should be a no brainer. How many bites are you going to get in your garage?

  • Throw that bass app away .

I went out today but still got skunked

You still got out, right.  I’ve had a tough fall here in eastern Massachusetts/Cape Cod, but so have others around me.  I’m marking many bait balls and think that there’s so much bait for the bass to eat, they’re just not interested in what I’m throwing.  It also might be I’m not throwing something that triggers them away from their dinner.

Use it as an opportunity to try different lures and work new areas in your waters.

Best of luck out there.

All true.

I would add other fish besides Bass are biting. I don’t know about you but I love all types of fishing. I have been carrying a medium light combo for panfish. Big Redbreast and Pumpkinseed put up quite the fight on light tackle. Catfish are also a blast when you hook into a good one.

If I had that time, and it wasn't the end of the world, I'm going.  Must be nice to pick and choose.  That kind of slack is rare these days!

The only app I ever check is my weather app.  I check the wind and the temperature.  If those are good, then I go.

I agree! I could care less what some app or person says is the best time to fish. I go fishing whenever I want.

I look at the sky, I look at the water, I often think... Yup, I think I'll go out for awhile. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not. I either enjoy the fishing, or sometimes just end up enjoying the ride. It's better than sitting looking at the walls and thinking about the water. It's always better than mowing the lawn. That can be a big motivator ?

I would suggest you throw the app away.  Grab a shovel, dig some worms, grab any rod, some hooks, floats, and get back to nature for a day.  Relax watch the wildlife, catch a few panfish for dinner, and reflect on why you go fishing.  I have all the modern gear, including electronics and enjoy using the latest tackle to catch bass, but every year I make my self get back to my fishing roots, simply enjoy a day on the water, and some fresh fish for dinner.

How can one let an app decide how they spend their time?? ??

Whats next, an app  to decide whether I gotta take a crap.

Anyone can catch fish when they are jumping in the boat.  You will learn the most about bass fishing when fishing is poor.

Go fishing whenever you can under any conditions. The more you fish under different conditions, the better you'll be at adapting to them.

App?  lol

Go every chance you can.  I can't begin to tell you all the times the conditions said no, but the fishing was exceptional.  Also the other way, conditions said great, but it actually sucked.  You really never know what you'll get.  A little time on the water will answer all your questions.

I've stayed home and regretted not going fishing many times, but I've never gone fishing and wished I had stayed home.

It is better to be fishing than being at home.

Ha! I see what you did there

I do things like that to the wife frequently - she has one of two reactions

1) Laughs until she can't breathe

2) Stares at me as if to say 'You did NOT just go there!' - I just grin back.

I know nothing about this app. Is it something regional you are looking at or is it just in general?

You are North Jersey, is a guy from Cali or Texas following the same info?

Just curious. Thanks.

Like all Solunar tables, it's based on the positions of Sol and Luna as relates to Earth and each other - so it's universal. Same info for Jersey, Cali, Japan, etc.

There have been numerous times when I thought the fishing would be good and it wasn't or vice versa.  If you have the time and the weather is nice, go.  I look at my days fishing as adventures.  I enjoy running my boat, using new lures, becoming proficient and improving in new presentations, and learning new areas with my electronics.  I enjoy watching the sun come up and the changing seasons as the year progresses.  I try not to measure the success of my day on the fish I caught.  Did I enjoy the day?  Was it better than staying home?  Did I learn something new?  Usually the answers to each of those are yes.  Rarely, do I go fishing and at the end of the day wish I hadn't.

I’ve never used these fishing forecasts. Just go fishing when ever you can.
