Sit or stand ?

Featured Replies

On my old bassboat I always the tall leaning seat up front and standard seat in back. That is until I looked back and there was my partner in a 2 man tournament sound asleep. The next week I had 2 tall leaning seats and he was ticked

  • I sit if the fish aren’t biting much and stand if the action is fast. That means I usually sit...

  • I stand nearly 100% of the time in a boat.  I sit nearly 100% of the time in my kayak.

I am 74 years young and have been bass fishing since I could hold a fishing rod. In my fifties, I started having pain in my back and hips when stand up fishing.  To counter this, I learned to flip sit

On my boat I have a adjustable  pedestal with a regular  seat and back rest. I'm fairly tall and dont like to sit low . So I have it positioned pretty high so I am able can lean against it or plant my butt on it .

I have to sit as much as possible any more. I bring a chair when fishing from the bank.

Bad back, foot, and now my knees are going so sit for me. Thanks to my Ulterra I can sit to deploy and stow that also.

I prefer to stand.

To keep from going for a swim in Kansas wind, sometimes I need to get out my  seat to lean against.

Stand most of the time, because if I sit I may not get up again. I will sit if boater asks me to take the TM for a bit.

Stand and lean against seat when resting.

62 and still standing in the Javelin. it’s about 50/50 in the little johnny when i’m alone, sitting when someone is with me.

Age, back and knees force me to use the butt seat all day now. Up until about 5 years ago I didn't have a seat in the boat. Definitely feel that I don't cast as well or hook up as well with some baits but you do what you have to do to get on the water.

Sit in the yak, stand in the boat.  If I feel like I really need to slow it down with a jig or T-rig, I will sit.

I waited 40 years for a bass boat.  I'm standing.

However I haven't mastered trolling motor control while standing, so I usually lean slightly on the mini-pedestal seat.

Stand until I find myself aching, then jump on the "saddle"

Fishing out of a boat I stand.  The only time I sit is to change baits, or eat.

I sit 100% of the time. I grew up fishing out of 14' V hull boats so that is the way I learned to fish. Since I had knee replacement surgery on both knees I won't stand up unless I have to. My sense of balance is not the best.

Stand and walk on bank. Sit in kayak so far at least until the water warms up. No way im gonna practice standing in kayak when water is still cold.

Didn’t have a sit down seat on my boat deck just pedestals front and back.

Now that I back seat the boats have folding rear seats that I stand and lean against for balance. I sit in the passenger seat.

I only Fish about 6 hours anymore, any longer I may sit to rest. I see better what’s in the water standing and cast more accurately after standing in boats to fish for over 65 years.

It’s tiring to fish for 6 hours at 78, the 15 hours days on the water are a memory.

Some of these bass boats have a deck big enough for a barn dance. If I had one I would stand more. I have a 16' Rhino jet boat for river use and being 73 I sit 85% of the time. As you can see there's not a lot of room there for any line dancing.

I found out the like button is not unlimited . No worries I’ll get em tomorrow

The past couple of years my balance isn't as good as it once was so I mostly sit.  At 80 and have bad shoulders I can't cast for long times anymore.

Know what's weird ?

When I fish during the day I would stand, when I night fish I sit.

Stand. Pedestals just get in the way in case i need to break dance like Ike
