When the fish is in my possession the rod goes under my right armpit and the bass gets held with my left hand as my right hand removes the hook.

I never thought about it but my left thumb is sore so Left handed it is .

I seem to always hold them with my left hand. That is the hand that gets stuck by the hooks on a crankbait while I am trying to get my needlenose pliers out to remove the hooks. 

Single hook baits right, trebles left.  Don't want to screw up my good hand

 

More seriously it is because I hold the net with my right hand otherwise I like the left.  When fishing in a canoe it would be whatever side the fish is on I use, but the boat based on the hook.

 

...nothing is better than two completely rashed out thumbs!!

The bass I catch are so big that I have to use both hands just to lift them out of the water…. And then I wake up

I solved that problem for around $10

They are nice for bass but really awesome for anything with teeth

Keeps the catfish/drum slime off my carpet too

I bought one of them and I haven't caught a bass on crankbait since then. They have all been caught or soft plastics, jigs, or spinnerbaits.

I hate using those for bass.  SO MUCH easier to just grab the fish with your hand.  That being said, I have one so that I can weigh fish and use on any fish that isn't lipable that needs to come in the boat.

I should have been more specific.

 

Like AJ, I net just about everything - not sunnies, crappies or dinks - then use Rapala grips, in my left hand, before working to get the hook(s) out.

 

So left hand pick up...yes...but with grips for anything over a pound (estimated) or toothy critters of any size...small pike have VERY sharp teeth.

I'm usually holding my rod in my left hand, then grab the fish with my fish grippers that are in my right hand. Once clipped, I transfer the grippers to my left hand and remove the hook with my right hand.

 

I try and reduce any chance of cuts and abrasions on my hands because knowing my luck some brain eating amoeba in the water would find it's way through that cut and feast away for a few seconds.

The hand I grab the bass with depends on if I'm fishing with a spinning, or baitcasting rod.  I'll lip the fish with my left hand because I'm right handed and that's the hand I take the pics with.

Multiple treble hook lures in a basses mouth shouldn’t be handle by hands.

I have lipped thousands of bass using single hook lures without any issues using whatever is available.

Usually with my left, since I mostly reel with my left. I prefer fighting the fish with my right …and unhook with my right…

I haven’t netted a bass in many years now , because I fish mostly out of a low- slung Jon boat.

 

I'm right handed and use my left hand to lip the bass.

I'm right handed so I'm more dexterous with my right hand. If I'm going to land them by lipping them, I'll probably do it right handed. If I'm pulling them out of a net then I probably do it either way, but more often than not it's with my right hand.

 

Although I've had to do it, I do not like to hold fish by the body.

Same as you, though I got home last Saturday after an epic 16 fatties on a hidden suburban retention pound and I realized that I have bass thumb on both my right and left hands. I don't recall ever using my right hand to lip the fish, but I definitely did because my thumb was all torn up. I have no idea why.

Right hand when baitcasting and left when spinning.  I cast left handed with baitcasting gear and right handed with spinning gear, so the free hand picks up the fish.

I am comfortable lipping a bass with either my left hand or right hand.

Right handed, usually I lip a bass with my right hand, although sometimes I have to use my left hand, either way is comfy for me.

Right hand when bringing them in on right side of yak; left hand on the other side.
