Out in the shop today. Decided to make a sort of little twitch bait for early in the season when Ice goes out in the spring here at the lake. It's about fifteen degrees here in Maine today. These are very small, but with a little detail. Hard to work on, carve, detail painting, etc, as they're about the size of my little finger. A little flash to them using some rubber skirt material.

They sink head down with their tail ends pointed up. The flashabou tries to float and waves in the current. Hoping to twitch them and entice (maybe annoy) a few nesting bass in the spring maybe.

The video showing their making.

My new favorite color to paint. I really like how this came out minus the extra clear that pooled.

That color with purple instead of blue with War Eagle's Lavender Shad color would look amazing.

I just bought some purple paint that matches the lavender skirt tabs to try. Too freaking cold to paint anything though.

I've got at least a week before I'm going to even be thinking about working on baits. Even now that I'm in my garage instead of a shop, it was only 40* in there tonight when I left for work, and it's suppose to get even colder out this weekend with 3 days in a row not making it out of single digits.

My first attempt at an underspin swim jig. Turned out pretty well and functions like it's supposed to. Wouldn't want to make a bunch, but it was fun trying to do one.

Is the wire molded into the head?

Havent had alot of toime to play with the new airbrush since i started grad school. The citrus crank i made for my son, only dives a foot deep. Trebles are going to need switched out. Not a good combo with a 5yr old. Had better action then I expected. The other one was supposed to be a regular crankbait but i had a little accident drilling the weight hole so I had to perform triage. The bill placement gives it a very wide wobble.

So.... I'm still getting geared up for when the ice goes out here at the lake. A couple of months left till that happens I'm afraid. I was out in the shop today and made a lipless crankbait in a silver/blue shad design.. sort of. I used Spasstik for the first time to chrome it. It worked okay I guess. A complete video of the build has been posted. As usual, I make everything but the hooks.

Thnx. Ya I'll fish it. Deep lake so not much chance of it getting hung up but if I do, I'll make another.

I have a herringhead mold that I was excited about to use for underspins, but it hasn't been what I'd hoped for. So I got myself a Seahorse mold like I should have in the first place.

I don't even know. This was from a grab bag that Captainhook's sent me with a big order and it just happened to fit. I had 3 of them so I poured 3 to test them out.

I don't know why I made this, I've never caught a fish on anything chartreuse. A work in progress, but I like what I have here so far. Dern I need to clean my cutting board!
