Super User scaleface Posted July 2, 2021 Super User Posted July 2, 2021 Going through some of my stuff I found these . Many decades ago , before the popularity of soft plastic jerk baits , I whittled a piece of wood and made a two sided plaster of Paris mold . I melted used plastic worms and poured them in . I caught lots of bass with them both Texas rigged and weightless . I still have the mold . Probably the ugliest worms ever made . 7 Quote

Super User Bankc Posted July 10, 2021 Super User Posted July 10, 2021 I got bored this afternoon and pieced together a few bladed crappie jigs with stuff around the house. I didn't have any split rings, and the jig's tie ran the wrong way anyway, so I snipped an Aberdeen hook and soldered it in place to attach the blade to the jig head. And here's a spoon from a month ago that I made from a spoon. I also made a spinning spoon by taking the handle of that spoon and twisting it in the middle. But I lost that on the first cast and didn't think to take a picture of it. 2 Quote
Super User king fisher Posted July 14, 2021 Super User Posted July 14, 2021 The drought is over in Nayarit Mexico ,the rainy season has started, and the water is rising. The spinnerbait bite will be on, so I made some more of my favorites. 6 Quote

Rivurcritur Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 New to posting on the site, although I’ve done a ton of reading and research on here. The lures that y’all are posting look amazing. I’m almost embarrassed to add to it but here goes: I took the dive into the hair jig world a while back and have enjoyed it immensely. 4 Quote

Hair jigs are the next "flies" I want to try and tie up next. Quote
Rivurcritur Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 Fly tying is exactly how I ended up tying these. I’ve been fly fishing and tying my own flies for about two years now and was tying some clousers when my buddy asked me to tie him some simple crappie jigs. Then that turned into tying these preacher jigs for another buddy and it just evolved from there. The small 1/8oz size (on the dark wooden table) work really well for smallmouth in the rivers we fish here in SWMO. 1 Quote
HaydenS Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 I like em a lot. After I learned to tie I also when to crappie jigs for a buddy, then to feathered trebles, and sometime I play around with different stuff. Hair jigs are next on the list. Just need to get some heads... Quote
Bdnoble84 Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Those look spectacular, now Im self conscious about posting my work, lol Posting anyway lol. Ventured into airbrushing and coating with kBS. (Spinnerblade is this way too). Im going to stick to powder coat on the jigs I think, just doesnt hold up well to dragging rocks. thankyou Munkin for hooking me up with wire and spinnerbait hooks. 1 Quote
Bdnoble84 Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Also started making some beefed up beetle spins and walleye hammer them 5 Quote

Rivurcritur Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Those look awesome! I want to try tying up some football heads with zonker strips like you did on the spinners. Kind of like a leech pattern maybe. You guys making the hard tackle like spinner baits and crank baits really impress me. 1 Quote

Irs too warm for hair right now, plastics are more effective. I am ready for the cooldown so lures like this craw become more effective 4 Quote
