I was really into knives in general.  it never got out of hand, but it was trending in that direction.  I gave away many, and now I am simplifying my knife-life.  recently, I am going old school.  I use a knife everyday.  cutting open an avocado for my office breakfast bagel --> cutting line and plastic netting on a construction job site.  most times, I carry a Swiss Army knife for the beer bottle opener, but I stopped drinking.  i have several (dont make me say, tactical) modern blades, but there is no cool like old school.  I lost this knife in a movie theater, but a friend found me a replacement.  this one is better because it has a carbon steel blade.  it is the craziest level of sharp.  Instagram sharp.

 

I wash my knife every evening with the supper dishes.  it's an Old Timer 50T.

 

 

 

I don't carry a knife like that on my person unless I'm hunting (I really have no need to).  I have a small swiss army knife on my key chain.  I also keep a leatherman-type multi tool that has a small blade in my truck and in my boat.

Growing up, I was taught a man always carries a pocket knife.

Despite how times have changed, unless I'm heading to the airport, this ones with me.

This Gerber Silver Knight was originally a father's day gift.

Some time after he passed several years ago,  my mom sent it back to me.

Though the edge is still quite capable, 53 years of pocket life,

 has the art work has worn completely away.

I carry a Gerber folding razor knife. It doubles as my money clip and I swap blades whenever I feel the need. It's very thin which is important to me as it lives in my pocket all day. I think I gave ten bucks for it at Tractor Supply. 

Spyderco Endura, and it's always razor sharp.   

 

Why do I carry a knife?  Because opening a bag of chips with a 9mm makes a mess.

I am not hip in any type of way. No social media or anything. But what does Instagram sharp mean? Never heard it, but I'm old. Lol

I heard the term recently.  I makes fun of all the social media stuff showing off sharpness of knives.  there are so many discussion about sharpening, apparently.  I dont instagram either. 

I carried a Victorinox Tinker for all my working years, yes, an old stick in the mud Swiss Army Knife. That model cause it has a Philips head. Think I have a half dozen of them here and there, many were sent back for repair under the lifetime warranty, all when the plastic covers fell off, although you get a new one back instead of them actually doing a repair.

 

 I still carry one when I need to, but not constantly like I used to. I do carry one of the baby ones on my key chain.

A small discontinued Spyderco has been my EDC for the last few months. I’ve carried a knife every day for the last 45 years or so. I bet I have 30 or 40 knives - flippers, traditional, fixed blade…. way too many. Been intending to sell on eBay - same with watches.

I am like @A-Jay in that I grew up in a time where guys always carried pocket knives. I have had many knives over the years. I have used Buck, Hen and Rooster, and Case just to name a few. I currently carry a Case 3 blade bone handle medium stockman. I always liked the medium stockmans better than anything else.

I just got into carrying a pocket knife since about Christmas. My most carried is a Kershaw Cryo II and will occasionally rotate it with a Boker Strike. I recently scored a Benchmade Bugout from an estate sale but am unsure of the feel. The reduction in weight is way different than the heft of the Kershaw I am becoming accustomed to. 

I love my Bugout.  it is the original boring blue one.  I too bought it used.  but, yea, it is very light.

I carry a cheap Gerber folder clipped to my pocket

I use a leatherman skeletool  for my E.D.C.  ( every day carry)

I carry a Gerber for opening boxes and whatnot at work and a Buck 110 Hunter for "not" work

I was an engineer in a major tunneling project.  Devils slide Tunnels near San Francisco.  it was mandatory that each person entering the tunnels carry a pocket knife.  they diverted airflow with these huge thick canvas bulkheads.  if a fire happened you may need to go thru a bulkhead.  I chose a burly partially serrated Benchmade.  thankfully, I never needed it beyond cutting a giant rope to free some huge air vents hung up on a loader.  but it got me to carry a knife everyday.  

Today it was Spyderco Delica 4…

EDC this Kershaw. I can pull it, open it one handed, cut what needs cutting, close it one handed, and reclip on my pocket before most can dig their blade out of the depths of their pocket.
