okay.  if i caught a giant bass, sure i would have taken a pic.  no doubt.

 

but the garden variety bass in the 2 - 4 lb range, it was kinda nice to get it, laugh in glee, unhook and put the fish back ASAP.  some of the smaller ones i didnt even announce to my boat-mate.  the splash might alert him, but beyond that i put the fish back without showing it to him.   i have a LOT of bass pics.  way more than pics of my lovely wife.  hahaha..  and my dog.  no pics of my dog that i also LOVE.

 

i think i am gonna taper off my bass pics.  it's getting ridiculous.  i need a datum, a point where a fish is photo worthy.

what is your go/no-go to picture taking?  my bud did say, "you should take a pic of your first legit punch bass".  nah, i let it go.  it was shy of 3lbs.  

 

4lb+ i might take a pic..or it is unusual.

I have never taken a picture of a fish.  I don't carry my phone in my boat

I see some people taking photos of every little fish they catch. If I have my GoPro on then of course every fish gets videoed, but I would only photo or take a screen capture of my favorites. My phone sucks so I never use it. I prefer video anyways  

 

My current profile pic to the left is from my GoPro. It's almost always on. I just set the camera on my Dad's boat for that shot and copied a frame from the video.

 

I'd rather have video. I like the hookset, battle, landing, the excitement. Photo shmoto!  

 

I guess my criteria though would be anything reasonably close to my PB could get a photo, or any odd catches. I actually have very few photos though, it's all video, and almost every catch over the last 4 years is there.

Thats a Bomber...not so much anymore. I been selling them off on eBay for mold money...

I will say this about a Bomber....you can crank that thing right through brush and trees.

I try not to over do it as most of my pics look the same. A lot of good catches go unposted. Truthfully, I enjoy showing off every now and then. I fish alone so it gives me some connection to people that enjoy the same experience.

Fish pictures give me something to look at when I’m not on the water. That’s why I love the Latest Catch Pics Thread, and I like contributing to it to. Any noteworthy fish usually get pictures. 4lb and over will most likely get a picture. If it’s a slow day, the 3lbers may get a picture. It’s nice to be able to look back and remember what scenario or decision led to that fish being boated. And sometimes its good to send some fish pictures to the girlfriend so she knows what I’m actually doing on the boat for 12 hours in the beating sun. And from Dec-April, all I have is fish pictures and frozen lakes. 

I like  to take pics of Largemouth 4 lbs plus . I dont have a smart phone . I do it the old school way . A camera laid down with  the timer set . Sometimes I forget the camera .

I take video and pictures come out of that.

Some of what is captured gets posted, some does not. 

Takes a bit to put it all together.

However reviewing it allows me to relive it.

Hard to beat, especially during hard water.

I photograph every fish because it allows me to look back and know where, when, and what i caught them on in the past. My wife and Inlaws also enjoy the pics when I cast them on the TV after every trip. If I posted 10% of my fish y'all would vote me off the forum.

I take pictures of anything over 4 and usually the best fish of the day.  I like putting a post on Instagram and a little report that my buddies can see.  I am interested in A-Jay's Go-Pro setup and will look into that for next year.   

I only take pics of bass over 3 lbs or if it's some special circumstance, like I caught a minnow on a giant wakebait. Monday I went to a new place and only took pics of the lake. I did catch 5 dinks.

 When the conditions allow, I'll do a 'this is my set up' video next time I'm out on the water.

The set up has changed (improved) over the years and as the technologies have gotten better.

Once I got the routine down, it's just a matter of sticking to it.

This year I entered my 1st kayak tournaments that are both catch,photo,release or I probably wouldnt have taken near as many pics of fish Ive caught. I did catch my 1st ever warmouth this week so of course I snapped a quick pic of him.

Up until this year I didn't even know how to take a selfie.

 

The only fish pictures I care about are grandkids.

 

 

I take a pic of every fish caught, some of the lake, and some of the sky.  Most will get deleted after I get home and update my fish log. 

My cell phone is turned off and I check it every couple days.
Phones are a nuisance and I’ve photographed 2 fish in my lifetime.

Pics can be an integral part of the fishing experience, in my opinion, especially with the newer phones that we have today. Not necessarily every single fish but note worthy fish or fish that did something very unique, or first time fish on a particular lure or presentation.....it's all about going back in time and reliving those special moments. Pics can also help with location data, time of year data, weather data, etc. One can always research a particular moment in time that produced spectacular fish. Without pics, you have nothing but a hazy bag of memories, nothing very specific and no proof for those fish stories that no one ever seems to believe lol
