2500-3000 size

My experience is extremely limited with spinning reels.  I like my Daiwa BG.  Bit heavier than some, but feels like it is built like a tank.

Ryobi Zauber in all incarnations.

Daiwa Fuego LT.  Great reel for the money, cannot tell the difference between it and the Tatula for almost $200.  Maybe in a few years, but I doubt it.

 

Used to be Pfluegers were in the hunt, but the new ones don't have anti reverse switches.  Neither do the Shimanos, I think.  I won't buy a reel without the switch.

Ryobi hasn't marketed or sold fishing gear in the US for quite some time, so US resident's would have to buy via the grey market.

This would be my choice. Lowest price Shimano I found with a screw in handle. I am not a fan of spinning reels with the knob you tighten on the opposite side of the handle.

BG and Fuego.  You can also can get a Tatula LT for $143 if you want to go the JDM route.

Don’t over look Dobyns Maverick spinning reels @ $99 backed by there customer service.

shimano has a new one released at icast. cant remember the name but i think it sells for 129. ive heard several rave reviews but thats all i know.

JDM 19 shimano stradic fl's are silky smooth, built like tanks and under $150, nothing beats them at that price.

Yes. It requires a specific SST.

Daiwa Procyon AL!!  this reel has the most fish on it for me.  by a mile.   zero complaints.  except maybe it seems to sink super fast.  to be honest, all rod/reel combos sink super fast..hahah

My most expensive spinning reel is $99 and below. Fuegos, Pflueger XT, Presidents, down to Daiwa Regals and Revros are plenty to keep me happy, yet my cheapest casting reels seem to be at that $99 threshold and above. BPS Pro Qualifier, SLX, Fuegos and Lews LFS are the starting point for me up through Curados and Daiwas SV, to a couple at the higher price point of the new Zillion and Bantam MGL.

 

Just can't justify those higher prices for a spinning reel.

Agree that the Fuego LT is a great $100.00 option - fair amount of flex but that's the trade off for the LT. Old Fuegos were magnificent. 

 

Another to consider is the Lews Custom Pro spinning reel. VERY solid..and heavy. Decent drag. Handle feels really good and they're $140ish. 

 

I'm the opposite with the reels though - I won't spend a lot on a casting reel. "A lot" is relative, obviously, but I'm content with the Tatula. Drag doesn't matter on them as it's heavier line and winching them to the net and they cast plenty far for me. I'd rather drop money on a spinning reel as the drag MATTERS and I don't want a floppy jalopy.
