I've had some. Older Japanese made Custom X spinning which still work. Currently have Sedona and Sahara. All have been good.

I think the slx is the best sub $100 reel on the market.  I’ve had mine since 2019 and zero issues.

I also have a slx dc that I really enjoy.

i agree i love the slx also have the curado 150 and planning on getting the 70.

When I was a little kid, like kindergarten or 1st grade age I caught my first bass with a lure.  My dad was so proud he got me a Bantam Bass One Mag reel for my birthday.  I caught so many fish on that reel and used it for years.  Up until we went striper fishing one year and blew it up.  I went years never hearing of another Bantam, just Curados.  Then they came out with a new Bantam in 2017.  So to make a long story short I just ordered a 22 Bantam and hope to make new meories with it.

Just picked up the 3000 vanford. I've got a Curado.

After playing around with Shimano baitcasting reels from the Casitas up to the 20 Metanium, I decided that the 22 Bantam is my "IT" reel from now on or at least for the time being until Shimano release a new one, I now have two 18 Bantam and two 22 Bantam. Something about the 22 Bantam that makes it better than the 20 Metanium, like a round reel in a low profile form, for me anyway. I still like and baby my Metanium though.

I have a bunch Sedona 500s and 1000s mounted on my, dare I say on this site, ACC Crappie Stix.  They work well for what I use them for.

The SLX variations are the best bargains in the game, in my opinion. Most of my reels are XTs or Abu Max X. After so many different reels over the years these are what I've nailed down as the best bang for my buck. In my house you'll find Dobyns Champion XPs mounted with SLX XTs and Furys mounted with Max Xs.

I like my Shimanos for certain things and Daiwa for others. I've got Curado DC and SLX DC, a 2018 Bantam and a few SLX and SLX MGLs, but the Shimano models I've been most happy with lately are my Curado MGL 151 and Curado MGL 71. Yep,.. I like my lefty reels.

The MGLs just cast so nice and smooth that they have become my go - to reels for techniques where I'm long casting moving baits like cranks, poppers and spinnerbaits.

Greatest reel Shimano ever produced, prove me wrong ?

Santa gifted me a Curado DC 150HG. I gifted myself a G. Loomis GCX 843c.
With that setup, I'm going to learn how to use crank baits and lipless baits better.

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

those lew’s narcissistic gonna hear you.

I used to be Shimano fanboys, Most of my reels were Shimanos from most 50e series, to conquest, bantam and SLX with just a few Daiwas. I separated those Shimano as casting machines and Daiwa as smooth operation machines. The time went by and I’m getting older, I become to prefer more of smoothness than casting power.

The only Shimanos I have left are these. I only plan to buy just one Shimano this year SLX DC XT (left) and if my wife allow 2023 Conquest BFS (left)E81F17D0-024B-4D49-AFF2-7F3E9E6EF659.thumb.jpeg.fb5400bbe24fde45d8f3711c2353018c.jpeg

has anyone used the slx xt?

2016 Metanium MGL is my holy grail. I have big hands so as solid as the Bantam is, it’s just too dang small for my liking. The Curado and Tranx reels are super sweet. However; the 2016 Metanium looks super sharp and just fits my hand perfectly.

First Lew's casting reel, designed in USA and built for him by Shimano - 1973

Doyo is a major parts supplier for both Shimano and Daiwa.

No spinning reel manages line as well as Shimano worm drive.

No Daiwa aluminum spool is as good as Shimano magnesium spool.

(solved by aftermarket spool in Daiwa)

No casting brake design is as simple and effective as Daiwa MagForce.

Still tough to beat Lew's reels for quality and price.
