Hi All - thanks for having me!  I primarily fish for LMB (local lakes/Delaware River) and smallies a few times a year in the Adirondacks and Champlain.  I also spend a lot of time outdoors hunting deer (bow hunting), turkey, and upland birds with my bird dogs.  Looking forward to learning from all of the folks more experienced than I.

Welcome aboard. What kind of dogs do you have? I grew up hunting with Labs, one was good upland and the other excelled with water fowl.

I have 2 unique breeds of dogs - a 9 year old Boykin Spaniel(Flusher) and a 2 year old Braque Francais (French Pointer). Blessed as both are good afield and in the home.

welcome.  You're a braver man than I taking bird dogs to NJ public land.  I'm a little north of you (Morris county) and I haven't bought a pheasant stamp for a couple years now (focused on bowhunting instead).  No way I'm putting my dogs out in that melee.

 

What bit of the Delaware do you fish?  I've been meaning to get on it the past 2 years and I think I'll actually make a trip this year, though it will be more smallies on the northern side.

Yes, hunting the public lands can be an eye opening experience.  I primarily fish the Delaware in the Wash Crossing - Lambertville area.   Fishing the spring shad run can b loads of fun!

I've considered Lambertville area because there is a bit more water there than up north.  Is that largemouth or smallmouth water there primarily?

A mix, but predominantly smallies so i target them.
