Guys who would buy that definitely call their wives to change a tire.

When I finally took my palm off my face I saw that they took the T wing level wind and made it even dumber. That took some effort.

IMO, the greatest engineering effort on that reel went into the marketing campaign.

I like my truck fielding my phone and youtubeMusic playing my favorites from years of sitting at the computer.  The only fishing App I could ever want is navigating a kayak in the fog.

But there's a generation coming up who will buy into New App...

It's absurd.

Artificial intelligence in a convoluted way?

I'm trying to get back to fishing w/o all the electronics except the cell phon, to have a simple fishing experience without all the background noise.

Enough with all the distractions. I just want it to be me, the reel, the rod and the lure and eventually the fish. I don't bring my Bluetooth earbuds to go fishing anymore to listen to music.

Agreed - and they’ll be YT videos made that make them enough money to more than offset the purchase price ?

Based on the casting distance claims in some previous threads by members here, it might not hurt for a few guys to pick one of these up and try it ?

kids these days.....

back in the day, i had my fishing line wrapped around a wooden dowel!!

but seriously, if it works and people like it and it bolsters the sport..good for them.  Daiwa is coming out with on that is 5x the cost.  but it will scratch your butt and tell your wife you will be late.

i'm bothered by livescope more, and that is barely bothered.

"And the app sells your fishing stats to the highest bidder "

Including the precise coordinates of the little cove that holds all of the big fish?

When I watched the promo reel for this I honestly thought maybe it was a late April Fool's joke. I don't know about you guys but with my gear, the less electronics the better... (aside from boat accessories of course)

At that price point the new Tatula 100 with Hyperdrive will outperform the iReel, especially in longevity, and it will cost way less - that Tatula may as well be called the baby Steez.

that pic is kinda sick!!!

I mean, I'm not the least bit surprised to see another company dipping into the electronic braking craze. I am surprised it's taken this long and that no one else has done it. Not arguing it's merits, personally I'm pretty ambivalent about Shimano's DC braking, but there's no doubt it has a lot of hype and popularity surrounding it that you would think other big makers would try to get in on that market share.

Personally, though, this reel is a pass for me.

They like the cheap plastic of Shimano reels, of course. Quite understandable.

This took some effort and is innovative to say the least.  I’m really surprised to see this from KastKing.   Does this mean they do some of their own engineering or did their Chinese manufacturer approach them with the idea after everyone else turned them down?

It's made by Banax, a very decent brand, KK don't develop ****.

I will wait for the price to reach a lower, more KK-wise, range.

What will I do with my thumb?

“Alexa! Cast the Whopper Plopper exactly 72.6’ at 31.5947°N, 93.8045°W within 1.5’ of the sunken stump”

”Sorry, I didn’t get that. Would you like to ask stopper chopper if he has 72.6 feet?”

What do I know? I thought pictures on your phone was the stupidest idea.

Given my experience with buying a couple of appliances recently that just happen to have wifi capabilities built into them (I bought slightly used, so paid less than half price and got the features that come with fancier models and could have done without the ability to communicate with my phone). But I, out of curiosity, downloaded the app to see if there was any actual utility to it. Surprise, surprise, the first thing they want is to have access to personal information, INCLUDING credit card numbers/info.

Bzzzzzt, wrong. Denied. App deleted before it even gets started.

So, out of curiosity to see if KastKing is up to the same sort of shenanigans, I downloaded their app and alas, I am not surprised to find my suspicions validated. Of course KastKing wants to get their grubby mitts on my personal information.

It's almost like having access to our personal information is as important to them as whatever gizmo they are selling is to us, maybe even more considering what discounts some companies are willing to offer in order to gain access to it. Almost. . . . Maybe.

I don't have to give access to my personal information to shop at a store if I shop there in person, especially if I am paying cash. These days, it's hard to even look at a product website without accepting a plate full of 'cookies'. The vast majority of product websites wouldn't go to the trouble of doing all of this if it wasn't somehow enhancing their bottom line, customer privacy be damned.

What's next, bluetooth crankbaits that tell us how deep they dive and what the water temp is down there. . . . in exchange for a plate of 'cookies' that gives them access to my data/information?

I won't be getting one.  If I knew how many casts I made I'd be tired.

Finally! A truthful answer to the age old question….how far can you cast?

I would love to see stats over casting distances and ones done per session.

You know they will be inputting the wrong line type and diameter to show people how far they can cast...
