Baby and marriage showers aren't for guys.  They are for girls.  Trust me.

Stay home and be glad you aren't there.

Fill a flask with some Johnnie Walker and bring your own cigar. You should be good to go

I rule the roost, my wife rules the rooster.

Looks like you don’t have enough brownie points to cash in to get out of it. You should have asked what time you need to be home from fishing then ask if you had to go. Maybe you could have squeaked in sometime. That’s a game I play with my wife.

Look on the bright side.  Maybe they will have some good eats.

Marriage maintenance? I'm sorry, I find that laughable.

You take care of her and she takes care of you. Bada boom bada bing!

wow that is weak right there.  No good wife would even ask their husband to go, especially if you didn't know them.

Haha. My wants me to go for her.  With her.

sorry I started this thread.   This thread was just a humorous attempt.   I’m fishing Sunday instead. I’m not bummed by any of it.  I just tried to crack a joke about it.

and the party is on a ranch/farm. I’m gonna ask for permission to hunt turkeys!

I've been to one baby shower. Spent the entire time helping the husband mount his new Minn Kota. I had a fine time, but was never ask to attend another.

My wife went to a baby shower a couple months ago while I was fishing, and afterward told me that there were some men there.  I was pretty surprised.   Like @gimruis, I always thought showers were just for women.  (Not to mention, a lame excuse to solicit for gifts).  Apparently, that has changed and men are going routinely.   If next one is more BBQ than mimosas....and my wife wants me to...I would likely go, also

It's really quite simple ?

Whoever is in charge of planning the baby shower their husband is in charge of planning what the men will be doing.

If it ain't for family or close friends all they'll get is a card from the wife saying, be warm & be filled!

Times have changed. Men of my generation didn’t attend showers, but were likely the first to change diapers, bathe children, etc. Now showers are attended by both sexes. In 50 years men will likely have showers and the womenfolk will stay home lol.

Changing times is the problem..

Now fathers don’t think twice about being in the delivery room!

When both of my kids were born I was in the waiting room and even that was too close!

I've never been to a baby shower.

There's nothing wrong with doing something to please the Misses though.   A good marriage isn't 50/50.  It's 100/100.

Ok, back to being the class clown.  Wives/girlfriends do things to try to embarrass us men sometimes.  When myself and Mrs B were dating she dragged me into a lingerie store trying to embarrass me.  She didn't know I was a "diesel fitter".   I put a pair of panties on my head and ran around saying "diesel fitter, diesel fitter".

Some of y'all clearly don't understand how this works.

Carolann & I will be at the same physical address but it ends right there!

The ladies will have fancy hors d'oeuvre while the guys are grilling steaks & baking potatoes. Sometimes the ladies will go to one restaurant & the guys will go to another. Couple times we made a road trip to Baton Rogue & Bass Pro Shop or Cabela.

So yeah I'll be "at" the baby shower!

You have to ask yourself:

1. Is this baby mine?

‘No’ - Don’t go to the shower.

’Yes’ -  You’re going to need a bigger decision tree. And scotch.

I have never been to a baby shower and I have three grandsons and two great grand kids.  My wife knows better than to ask me to go to one.   After 58 years, she knows I would go if she asked.  "Happy wife, happy life".

or....happy spouse, happy house

that way you both win lol
