That's an excellent point.  Everything will eventually be repaired, rebuilt, and replaced. But you can't replace lives.

They keep telling me it's going to end eventually. But I'm really concerned that my Qualude stash might not last that long. 🥴 A-Jay

  • Have to admit that I do enjoy seeing posts from folks who are sharing in a full-on winter experience. And not the kind that 'melts' by lunchtime. I will be sure to remind you of this again when you po

  • We've had a bit of a warm up and it's been raining on & off since early this morning. Best part is my shoveling efforts seemed to useful. Half my roof is bare and exposed. More snow is on the way

So...when you have ample warning of a strong windstorm headed your way....

You might want to secure your trampoline.

Today we’ve seen around .3” of rain with temps in the mid 40’s. A lot of melting going on and quite a bit of water around. Here’s the problem, in five hours temps will be 28, winds 18-30 mph, and a windchill of 13. The flash freeze is going to create quite the mess on the main roads and especially the back roads.

On a brighter note, 6poundbass is quite happy because there’s almost a 0% chance there will be school tomorrow and he’s supposed to have exams. 😁

@12poundbass that is exactly what occurred here today. It was 40 degrees and rain this morning. Temp dropped all day, now it’s snowing and very windy, about 10 degrees out.

Good thing I’m not a betting man. In my previous post from last night I said there was an almost 0% chance 6poundbass would have school. Well, I’m going to hang my hat on the fact that I said ALMOST.😁

We got the weather and freeze they were predicting but apparently the back roads weren’t as bad as the predicted because he had school. It was a half day and the snow and wind didn’t really get bad until around 9 so they got the half day in and he had to take his exam.

I have good barrel control so I didn’t shoot myself in the foot.

I’ve never been flexible so my foot can’t reach my mouth.

Looks like crow is on the menu for lunch! 😂

Figuratively I have! Literally I haven’t but I’d bet my cousin has. There is a season for hunting them, he said they are basically impossible to kill because they are so smart but I know he got one once

The first winter storm was earlier this week and we got 6” or so.  It was an uneventful event- a 20 minute job with the snow blower and all was right with the world.  We got an inch of 50 degrees rain today and that just cleared the snow.  HOWEVER a storm cell came through that was unpredicted and it brought 25 mph constant wind with gusts to 50-60 and rain/hail.  There are now 4000 people without power in the immediate area (us included) and the first estimate to restore won’t even be until the morning.  We have a tree down across the singular line that feeds our street, taking the internet and phone lines out with it.  Generator and hot spot for the win @Jig Man.

My wife has read they are so smart which I have no doubt they are. She has read that they will bring treats to the ones who they trust. I have a crow call that I use for turkey hunting…. Which I’ve been forced to use. It hasn’t worked out for her….

Well, the number jumped to 20k+ without power as of this morning.  My restore estimate is 3 PM so we’ll see how that goes.  We’ve got some running around to do anyway so no biggie.  Roads are mostly passable now while crews are working on the lines.

40 degrees and cold, wet, rain with more wind.  It's just dark, gray, and wet, wet, wet...cold, soggy, muddy, wet.  It's no wonder we're the moss state!

It's so dark, everyone's driving around at 1:00pm with their headlights on. I don't know when the last time I saw sunshine was.

Imma bout ready to catch the next plane to AZ.

Oh wait, it's pouring down rain there too!

3-6 inches of snow expected here tomorrow. There is a blizzard warning posted to the west of me because up to 45 mph winds are expected and it’s very flat, open terrain.

Still sick of winter.

Looks like we'll be getting some more winter-type stuff.

Fun times!

All my commentary the last couple years about fake and mild winters has backfired. @TnRiver46 called it.

@gim it’ll be interesting to see how this winter plays out because it seems like it’s a month or to ahead of its normal schedule. Usually we have a weekend meter them a warms up time a cold winter and right now we’re three weeks ahead of schedule. If I had to guess, were I. For a hard winter.
