No snow for me yet. The ocean had a little skim ice on it this morning. It was gone by 1000.

They keep telling me it's going to end eventually. But I'm really concerned that my Qualude stash might not last that long. 🥴 A-Jay

  • Have to admit that I do enjoy seeing posts from folks who are sharing in a full-on winter experience. And not the kind that 'melts' by lunchtime. I will be sure to remind you of this again when you po

  • We've had a bit of a warm up and it's been raining on & off since early this morning. Best part is my shoveling efforts seemed to useful. Half my roof is bare and exposed. More snow is on the way

12 here this morning and only 24 for the high. But it isn't getting any colder tonight and then warms up to 38 tomorrow afternoon and then 40 on sunday.  I'm going to try to fish Sunday because after sunday afternoon we have 72 hours below freezing with the lowest bottoming out at 9.  One of the local lakes had skim ice yesterday morning in a shallow protected cove so I'm running out of days.  The USGS for a bigger lake is showing 42-43 degrees still so shoreline ice at the ramp is my main risk.

It's only gonna get down to 29 tonight with a high of 36 tomorrow. I'm going to give those muskie a go. The water's in the upper 30's in the main lake basins, with the upper end iced over and advancing every day. It'll probably be tough, but tis  the season to maybe get a crack at a monster. Depending on how things go tomorrow, I might get out Tuesday also. 🤞

Hard water season has arrived here in Nebraska. We have had snow on the ground for over a week...single digit temps last week. Managed to get the Lund cleaned out and moved from the garage down to the shop today. It was a bit of a challenge...now that my Dad's 1962 Impala is now in my care. A little tight, but everything fit.

Got another 6in of snow yesterday we are now at 14in in a week. Last winter we had like 16 total all winter. Normal winter totals is around 31 for us so we are almost have way there and its December 7th.

38 and foggy here this morning and it’s time for outdoor hockey!

^ I'd take that - currently it's +5 here

Thanks @gim. That chair was my ex-wife's grandmothers. It is not comfy at all, but makes a good shop-chair.

Eight years ago, this is what I started with. I managed to pack a lot of stuff in there... 😂

Registered our first sub zero air temps this morning. At minus 2 degrees Fahrenheit.

Probably won't be the last.

Meanwhile, we're busting record high temps this week along with monsoon rains.  Mid 50's with 4-10 inches of rain.  You guys will probably get it in the form of snow.

may the force be with you GIF

I’m getting ready.  It’s my mother in laws 90th birthday Christmas Eve so my wife and her sister have planned a party in Kansas City.  We decided to drive from Virginia.  Fingers crossed we don’t get buried somewhere along the way.

-3* here this morning @A-Jay. Probably the only time I’ll be colder than you this winter.

Our forecast for the next 48hrs, 2-3” of snow overnight, then it warms up tomorrow, rain moves in during the day, then the temps plummet tomorrow night, and everything flash freezes. Not much fun!

I am so sick of winter already and its only December 8 lol

It snows here like every other day and tomorrow is another big one.  Rain, rain/snow mix, snow, or all three.  Followed by bitter cold temps for days so everything is going to freeze like super glue.  We have no doubt been spoiled by very mild winters here in recent memory.  Not this time.

I can deal with cold temps.  A mountain of snow for months on end sucks.  All I do is move it around.

We need to be honest with ourselves (myself included) it’s still fall! Winter is still two weeks away. 😂

Whelp, we have flooding, mud slides, road closures, and power outages now. And the wind knocked over the downtown tree:

May be an image of christmas tree and road

And we have another, more potent storm rolling in tonight.

It's about to get real.  They're predicting HEAVY rain, triggering massive floods and landslides.  Many areas are already flooding, and they're saying this is just the beginning.

It's all good at my home, but I have some traveling to do, and it might be difficult to maneuver around the road closures....and the roads that aren't closed, but should be.

Brutal single-digit cold snap was finally broken but only because a big snow storm is moving in again. We still have several inches on the ground from last week's storm and were getting hit again. I'm with @gim, I am sick of it already.

Another 6 inches here overnight.

Did I mention I'm sick of winter yet?
