No wonder you catch such big bass, you use squid lures ?

This all saltwater stuff?!?

Took the new rod out today.

7’ St. Croix Mojo Bass Medium Fast

Got a new toy to play with. Slightly modded Scorpion 70 on a new to me rod. Comes from a US manufacturer called FXtreme. Only 6'3" and feather light with Winn Grips. I'm trying to get used to a split grip rear handle. I'm old school and primarily use shorter full grip handles. Reel matches rod real nice. Fishes good, too. Virtually no tip weight.

That’s pretty sharp I like the grips.

Great reel i have one myself, very underrated.

Forgot about the CS Tat SV.  There have been a number of these CS reels with unique colors.  I hope they keep doing it with other reels.

I like some of the import reels, they have those unique finishes. Gives you a little something different then all the others.

I like it.  Didn't think I was going to like that fixed inductor spool but it handles 20# big game great.  Fast enough without being too fast.  The Catalina TW spool I got for it is great too.  It can bomb a frog with braid.  It has a stiffer than normal spring in it too.  Not HLC stiff but stiffer than your average Magforce Z spring.  Gets close to the arbor with 65# braid and a terminator walking frog on a 7'2" rod.

That reel is not even half full.

I guessing that was after the cast.

Finally getting all the reels spooled up. :respect-040:

I finally got my Dick’s Sporting Goods $50 scorecard reward from when I bought my kayak last month. I wanted to buy a rod to pair up with my Lew’s LFS Inshore Speed Spool I purchased over the holiday season. I chose to get a St Croix Bass X 7’1 Medium Fast action on Friday.

I took it out today while Trout fishing for no other reason than to try out the new combo. I tied on a #4 Vibrax in line spinner on 10# Big Game mono and was shocked to catch a couple of Brook Trout. Broke in the new combo just right.

This just came in

MORETHAN PE1000SHL-TW

It's an awesome reel, insanely smooth with the Hyper Digigear.

It's basically a very refined Steez A which in itself is a work horse.

I'm gonna get some more.

Very nice. I recently picked up the new Steez A HLC but was very close to pulling the trigger on a Morethan

ok, we need a photo on a new page.

I haven't bought a fly rod for hill country endemic bass in awhile (I've also sold a few to fund other projects).  When a friend pointed out this desirable Phillipson from 1966, I set up an ebay snipe and bought it for a very fair price.

I've had the Hardy reel for a long time, but this venerable glass rod will do anything a 9' graphite 5-wt will do, and fits in tighter places.

I recently (Tuesday) purchased this rod after keeping an eye on my local Wal Mart for several months. I have the first generation Lews carbon fire rod in this exact length (6’-10”) and when I saw this version I knew I had to have it for my Daiwa CA80 as I’m a sucker for the perfect color match.

Orange anodize always looks sharp.

Lew's picked it for the Team Pro SP, Tica used it for trim on Libra SX, and Daiwa offers a whole range.

Daiwa ran a color aftermarket parts blitz in Oz/NZ called the Custom Project, that also made its way to Europe.

Thanks for the suggestions guys? If memory serves me correctly there was/is a tangerine colored monofilament on the market I’m going to try to chase down. Bulldog I’m still holding off but I’m not sure how much longer on the Tica reel, every time you post a picture of yours the bait monkey whispers in my ear ? I’ll have to find some time to browse that Daiwa site as I have a couple Tatulas I wouldn’t mind customizing.

Was able to nab a new in the box SV103HL, I wish they kept making these guys.

freeing up the LIN10 Mars for sale

You don’t say?  I have a Super Red Demon that would look amazing with a Mars on it but the sticker shock was too great so I ended up with a Ryoga 1520.

Mine is unused like new.  Let me swap the handles and knobs between the IP79 and the Mars and I can get the price to $650 tyd.

Ha, I wish I could, but I was out of work for like all of 2020 and have to be a good boy for the time being.
