^ This is my brand new and first ever technique specific setup I've built. This will be dedicated to throwing tube jigs for smallmouth bass and I can't wait to use it!

- 6th Sense ESP 7'2 MH/MF + Daiwa Tatula 100XS (8.1:1)

That could be the most bada** looking setup I’ve seen!

Thanks, I appreciate you! I have a 6th Sense Lux 6’9 M/MF that I’m going to pair w/ a Tatula 100 in the 7.1:1 gear ratio and will post an updated photo of both once I have the reel. I’m excited for that setup too.

Just some fun cheapo stuff...I love these reels and they are great as knock arounds or for kids to learn on.  Abu Garcia Blue Max (Wally World special) with a cheap CF handle from eBay.  Total with line is less than $50 and it fires casts out there like crazy!

I have three of them and ordered handles for all just because the 106mm handle length is nice for my bigger hands.

Here is yet another in my growing Abu Garcia "classics" collection.  It's a 1978 Abu Garcia 4500 red bushing model.  Not the more common 4500C with the ball bearings.  Foot number is 780800 (August 1978 first edition) and it is in excellent shape.  They didn't make too many of these.

Mind if I ask what the company name is on E-Bay for the handles? Also do they come with the cork knobs?

HPRBearings is the company.  Not sure if they do regular cork but they obviously do the compressed and the EVA.  They often discount their stuff too and/or the more you buy the cheaper the price.

Thank you both for the quick responses?? Also thank you to bulldog1935 for the recommendations on handles. I have 2 cheap reels a Piscifun Spark and a Kast King royal legend II that I would like to swap handles on at a low cost. I will be surfing the internet tomorrow as my birthday is coming soon ?

Some more fun...Ambassadeur 5500DA from 1980...only a very short run with the palming plate.  Pretty cool reel with direct drive.

I'd like to grow my Ambassadeur collection. I only have two right now. One is my catfish/swimbait reel, and the other just sits around. Both are 5000's. The one I use is from the early 2000's, the other is, if I remember correctly, a 1973.

If you have questions on the reels, I would be happy to help out.  If your one reel is from 1973, if you look on the bottom of the reel foot, you would see 73xxxx (in other words, 1973, then the two digit month made, then the version in the last two digits...00 = 1, 01 = 2, etc.  Let me know.  Thanks and best wishes on the water!

I had already dated it, I just forgot what the date was. I think my next one will be a 1500C or 2500C. I'd like to make one into a BFS reel because of how much I enjoy fishing the Ambassadeurs. If I have any questions, I'll be sure to let you know!

These two came from a good friend on here with a very nice story behind them.  These are in the display case.  The one on the left is from 1981 and the one on the right is from 1978.  Thank you to a wonderful West Coast crustacean!  ?

I would guess $85.99 was a good chunk of change for a reel in 1981. I was only 1 at the time so I don't know for sure

For just a reel...ya, that was a good chunk. I bought my Abu Ambassadeur 500R combo about that time and I think the whole rig was around $50.

Young kid....'Get off my lawn!' (I was a year into my Air Force time...and I'd done 2 years of college before that)

I would bet around $250-300 today.

Got myself a second Curado K.

rsz_img_0190.thumb.jpg.5567a009a3257a5173ac48406c1fb74a.jpg

This one will eventually go on an IMX Pro 853 JWR when it gets here in June or July - called a shop, they checked with Shimano, and both the JWR and CBR models are only expected to be in stock in the summer.

Meanwhile it was going to go on a Curado rod, the MH model... But instead of that they sent a Heavy, just like the one I had and sold a few weeks ago, so that's going back.

I had been shopping for a rod rack(s) and really had a hard time.  I imagined a black contemporary rack made of wood.  Didn't have any luck so I just went cheap and picked up 5 6- rod racks that connect together.

ANNHzs.jpg

I'd want to know what rods they were, so here goes..

5 gen 1 Abu Garcia Villains (4x 6'9"ML/mod-fast and 1 6'6" M/fast).

hGAVpR.jpg

8 Edge rods (Black Widow 7'MHx2, First Strike 7'8"H, 8'H Mod, 7'Hx2, 7'MH, 7'M)

mkF8iH.jpg

NRX (893c, 873c, 843c, 852c, 803s, 852s)

IbxdWz.jpg

Imx-Pro crankers (864, 903) and 6-6M Tatula spinning (jerkbaits)

H6kki3.jpg

Shimano Poison Glorious [Glorious XC 7'M & 7'3"MH (carbon grip)...6'10"M, 6'10"H, 6'11"MH, 7'H+, 7'4"MH, 7'6"H (cork grip)]

@KP Duty, man, that door in the top pic makes me nervous.  I see the gap you left for the knob, but still.

I think I would get some of those neon colored fiberglass driveway marking poles and stick them in the danger-zone slots ;)

Get it. I enjoy working/maintaining them. You could've thrown one Shimano in there.?

^ This is following up on a post I had last week. I added a second Tatula 100, the HS version, to complete my new jerkbait setup. These are going to be the two setups I use most this year for smallmouth bass.

6th Sense ESP 7'2 MH/MF + Daiwa Tatula 100XS (8.1:1) > Tube Jig Setup

6th Sense Lux 6'9 M/MF + Daiwa Tatula 100HS (7.1:1) > Jerkbait Setup
