We moved mom into assisted living this week, which means she didn't have to go to a nursing home. Getting stronger, but still limited to thickened liquids and whipped food. What is bothering her the most is being unable to speak (or write for that matter). Speech therapy coming, but swollen brain is forcing them to wait. She does understand things and can let us know yes or no. I wanted to thank you all through private message, but it would take too long. Finally able to see mom today, first time in 12 days. The moved her to a rehab facility last evening. Still unable to speak, but is moving both arms. She can only swallow the thickness of honey, and i witnessed her eat 5 bites of "turkey, mashed potatoes,yams,"and half of her applesauce. I didn't know what to expect when i first got there, but she got out of bed by herself, and we had a tearful hug. ? Things are looking better than i expected, and i think all the prayers and well- wishing are helping. It's gonna be a long recovery process...i hope she's up for it.
