  1. Touché I have a Cabelas 10 minutes away and 2 Bass Pro's both 45 minutes north of me and south of me. As far as your statement about the big box stores as the reason the small guys are closing shop, I disagree. The way people purchase things has changed and I would bet the small guys were either unwilling or unable to adapt. There's a small bait and tackle shop about 15 minutes from me. Been around many years. He jumped in head first selling online and has become a success. Also, from a guy that likes to physically go to a store and shop, the brick and mortar concept has changed. We used to have sporting goods stores that sold fishing stuff, golf stuff, football, baseball, soccer, skiing stuff etc. Sporting goods stores have become specialty stores. Aside from Dick's, at least in the Midwest, there are no more big box sporting goods stores around here.
  2. There was once a day where we had to get off our rear ends to go to the store and purchase things...

  7. We always had pan fried walleye with potatoes and onions and plenty of beer. Went fishing in Canada in the early 80's, multiple summers, with my father and grandfather. Always on Eagle Lake in Ontario. My grandfather lands a 9lb walleye first thing in the morning one day and we don't get as much as a nibble the next 3 hours. My dad starts messing with my grandfather. Telling him we're having his trophy for lunch. My grandfather says he's going to drown my father if he lays a hand on the fish. We finally found a school of eater size walleye and had lunch. Grandpa got the walleye mounted.

  11. Where I live, I have a better chance of getting killed by a human rather than a snake or a spider.
  12. Would those be actually flying rattle snakes or just the ones dropping from the cyprus trees into the boat?
  13. Sick of the cold weather? If I recall you're from Iowa. You moved to IL to get away from the cold? Next time, move south.
  14. Something I'm wondering about. About 50% of the hybrids don't have lockable rod storage. What is the reasoning behind this?
  15. There are Asian restaurant owners in my neck of the woods that have and will do just that.
  16. No boat show at McCormick either
  17. I'm giving away $50 in @Siebert Outdoors merchandise. Just cost you $5 to enter for a chance and the money goes to a great cause.
  18. Do you have raw water washdown on the boat?
  19. Take up salmon or walleye fishing. Couple hours north and you're fishing the best smallie waters in the country.
  20. I have a customer who bought one for his wife. She didn't like it and he sold it. My dad just bought one. Guy at Cabelas recommended it to him. Dad is 82 and has real bad arthritis. I have a Gen 1 Shield for EDC and I like it.
