Whats the point of split grips?
Split grip, definitely looks cool and more modern. Wish "one" rod manufacture would get on the band wagon.

Automatic Line Guide Centering
Didnt the old Penn saltwater reels do the same?

Automatic Line Guide Centering
I wonder why the reel manufactures do not make a BC reel that automatically centers the line guide when you release the spool prior to casting. I would think this would make the cast smoother and more efficient since the line would feed easier off the spool during the cast.

How often do we catch the same bass??
X10 on that thought, I know Ive lost a the same big one two times this year in the exact same spot, he dives down under a big boulder and both times popped the line. Ive seen his head one time and his tail another. Just about yanked the rod from my hands. Id like to try some of that smallmouth action, I hear they fight like crazy.

this is just nuts
The best part is where I live the bass pond is almost 5 acres and its in one of those snoby golf course communities. Only me and 1 of my neighbors fish so its a real sweet place. Makes it worth the expensive annual dues. Owned a boat 20 years ago, it was a lot of fun but it was also a hole in the water that consumed lots of money and time. Thought about buying another boat but I keep talking myself out of it when Im catching fish almost everyday so close to home.

this is just nuts
Yea, I dont fish large waters, primarly due to convienence, its just to easy to travel a couple of blocks and fish everyday vs traveling 20 miles and dealing with all kinds of issues. Im just lazy, what can I say, its just fun catching a few 1-3 #'ders everyday without having to go to a lot of trouble. Guess I am what some would refer to as a recreational fisherman. Not trying to prove anything, just having fun. When the need arises, I'll add whatever gear is best for that situation and advice from experienced fisherman like the ones here will help guide my buying decisions.

this is just nuts
What kind of swimbait? A paddle tail (Basstrix, Berkley Hollow Belly) is not a swimbait.... Lake Fork Live Magic Shad Storm Kickin Minnow Storm Wildeye Soft Shad 14# works for were I fish the most

this is just nuts
Call me crazy but I throw swim baits with my Core 50 spooled with 14# Yo Zuri. You wont have enough line to cast it a 100yds but it works. Core 50 - 14/70yds Steez 103 - 14/100yds

Com'on Dan and Dink, its not all about weight or line cap., sometimes its just about personal preference. I just like the low profile reels better than the round style.

What the Pro's Use
Several years ago Lance Armstrong rode a Litespeed titanium bike in the mountain stages of the Tour de France. The bike had been painted with Trek colors and logo since Trek sponsored Lance's team. At a tennis tournament years ago I sat next to John Lloyd while he removed the stripes from a pair of Adidas tennis shoes. They didn't sponsor him and he didn't want to give them free advertising. I have a Silver Buddy that Billy Westmoreland gave me. He told me that he caught most of his smallmouth on that bait, but the company was too small to sponsor him so he didn't use it on the show. All those people had a fat wallet but NO heart! Pityful!

Good price for Loomis????
Ive never bought or seen a "like new" GLX for less than $200 and only 1 at that price (seller was broke and lost job). Most in "like new" condition are at least $250-$275. Check eBay for pricing. If you are still considering the purchase from that seller, I would be sure to do a closeup hands on inspection and maybe have some close up retail pics of the same rods for comparison. Odds are if the rods are not genuine the seller will balk when you ask to inspect the rods.

Over 7 oz, too heavy and too bulky. 8-) Very nice looking reel though.

How often do we catch the same bass??
I know Ive caught the same 3# fish 4 times in a large pond this year because the first time I caught him on a shallow crankbait and the back treble hook torn out his eye and Ive caught the one eyed fish again 3 more times on 3 different baits. The last time I noticed his lip was looking pretty bad.

rods that work best for walking the dog
Lucky is right, a 7.x ratio reel really makes that frog fishing smoother.

My custom painted shaky head reel!!!
That is just pure sick! Id love to see it in light shades of brown/green so it would really look like a snake.

Rod grips?
Oh Yea, very nice looking. Dan, you gonna order one and try it ? Somebody slap one of those on "their" GLX and let me know how it works. 8-) Why wouldn't some good quality heavy duty heat shrink work?
