  1. Just posted in the hypertension thread that I'm a pitiful 60 lbs overweight! My back has also been bothering me lately. I ran, weight trained and surfed my entire young adult life and was always in tip top shape. Over the last X amount of years, not so much. I hope the threat of heart disease is serious enough for me to finally get my butt in gear! Good luck to every one else in there weight loss journey.
  2. Last few Dr visits my BP has been high and just yesterday the Dr finally convinced me I need some medication. Its no secret why its high though, I'm about 60 lbs overweight! I have been eating and drinking like a hog. I hope the scare of a heart attack or stroke is finally enough to scare me straight on to the road to a healthy lifestyle change. Good luck to the rest of you with your journey as well.
  3. Drop Shot! Haha. Actually, the first time I ever threw a Ned Rig was on a lake I had never took a doughnut on before and time was running out. As a Hail Mary, I grabbed one of the NR I had thrown in my box and cast it out... A couple hops and pops later, wham-o! I ended up CRUSHING them on that ledge with that thing while my buddy watched in disbelief! Haha
  4. Those were some great stories. Thank you for sharing.
  5. That's a pretty cool story. Thank for your service.
  6. It is literally exactly what it sounds like, a curl tail worm that has been cut. If I remember correctly, Gary was in a tournament, cut down a curl tail worm to experiment and started whacking them and the rest is history... Those things are DEADLY!
  7. I switched over to Sufix Elite for Freshwater Bass fishing a few seasons ago for my Mono needs (after trying almost everything else EG: Trilene, Stren, P-Line, Maxima, Izorline, etc) and don't ever see myself going back to any of the other brands.
  8. Shimano Chronarch 50E mounted on a Falcon Cara 6'6". Love this setup for Jerkbaits.
  9. No kidding? Haha. Im surprised nobody has snatched it up! I have a bunch of CU E's and the one CI E I have, I threw a CU 200E handle and spool on it. Love the larger Power Grip knobs. Maybe give the thread a bump since its the middle of winter. Idle hands and such...
  10. Really dig the upgraded handle and knobs on that!
  11. I use the green coated floral wire too. A couple wraps, a few twist and a cut and tuck and done deal. Just made myself a note to do that to a few jigs soon.
  12. It is because they are expensive/ labor intensive to make. That and the fact people are willing to pay the going rate. A less expensive version would be the old school ball head jig which will work just fine. Once you start using premium hooks, powder coating them, adding eyes and weed guards the cost definitely goes up. A cost myself and others are willing to pay. I don't care so much about the powder coating and the weed guard, but I refuse to fish anything that doesn't have a quality (for me, forged black nickel) hook with eyes.
  13. Get out on the water, enjoy the outdoors, build camaraderie, stay safe and catch a couple of few fish!
  14. In trays by type EG: Shallow Diver, Mid, Deep, Balsa, etc. Normans with other Normans, SK's with other SK's, etc. Similar colors together too. Shad with Shad, Craw with Craw, etc.

I have personally seen my father do this in 30+ foot of water while we were double anchored on a main lake point while I was fishing a jig and it can be deadly! He was using a spinning reel with the bail open and casting as far up wind and current as possible and letting it "intersect" the main lake point. He was essentially fishing a fly-lined/ long soaked plastic like we do when salt water fishing a live bait. Not my favorite technique (I prefer others like the jig I was fishing), but under the right conditions it can be very effective. The current/ wind kicked up and killed technique, but it was deadly for a hot minute when the conditions are right.
  16. IMO, alcohol burner is old school and there are better options. Lighter is def a no go for me. I prefer to use a torch. Heat gun as a back up. A torch has a steep learning curve, but by far is the most efficient for me. The trick is to always keep that thing moving.
  17. If I were you, I would NOT sell that Stradic. Out of the several setups I have, only two are spinning reels and they both just happen to be Stradics and they are great reels. What I'm getting at though is that spinning setups are specific tools that I'm very happy to have when I need them even though I own way more bait casters. Even though I can (and have) drop shot with a bait caster, I would never want to when I can use a spinning reel instead. For that technique I feel they are superior in every way even tough I prefer BC for 99% of other techniques. I would just save and add the BFS later to the arsenal.
  18. IMO, between those three choices, the Curado is the only choice. As far as Bass fishing goes, I feel like there is Shimano and Daiwa and then there is everything else.
  19. Yeah, always preferred the military gyms to the commercial ones for sure. Always felt honored when a buddy invited me. Less equipment, but the vibe and attitude (or lack thereof) was 100% better. These days it's just cardio and kettlebells for the most part. Space is my biggest limiting factor for home workouts. Your set up is awesome.
  20. Just wanted to say I'm super jelly of your private home gym. Such a nice little set up. Had a gym membership for 15+ years. Questionable whether I'll ever have another one. I LOVE working out, but hate the public gyms and gym culture. Keep up the good work man!
  21. On this website?... You're probably not the only one, but you would be on a short list! Haha. I definitely want lower gear ratios for cranks and spinnerbaits, etc and definitely want higher ones for worms and jigs, etc. I think 99% of my stuff is either 5.0:1, 6.2:1 or 7.0:1.
  22. One of the oldest boating/ fishing superstitions in the book... and one even some licensed boat captains take very seriously! I could care less and love bananas. Haha
  23. You're perfectly fine using mono. Every single setup I have from 10 lb to 100 lb (saltwater) has braid backing to a mono top-shot. The exceptions are worm and jig stuff have flouro top-shots, spinning setups have braid with a flouro leader, frog/ flippin & pitchin are straight braid and some salt water flyline setups get a flouro leader for Bluefin fishing. Everything else, the fish from LMB to YFT get mono line.
  24. I personally wouldn't even think twice about fishing it. I would just add a little bit of some composite wood filler and sand down.
