Has anyone ordered a rod from Japan Lure Shop within the past 2-3 weeks? UPS and US customs is holding up my package.
Did you get a BoM (bill of materials) to see what you were charged? I’m very curious to know if they’re charging the 50% aluminum tariff or not.

Wow. That’s disappointing. I remember back in 2015 I broke a tip top guide (totally my fault) and called to ask for a replacement. They said they would send it out no charge. When I received the box, it had 2 new tip tops in it. I was very happy with their customer service at that point.

Japan Tackle
Japan tackle is legit like you said. Jun is also a great guy and offers a 6 year warranty on reels. He’ll also facilitate the factory warranty in Japan if you ever need to use it. I’ve never heard of tacklejapan.com though.

Wanna send me one for review? 😁

Hope it’s ok, I’m bumping this up. Has anyone else gotten one of these rods? What are your thoughts? And to the people who already had one, have your opinions changed?

Good quality BFS buzzbaits
Interesting. I never thought of using a bfs buzz bait. I’ll have to look into it more.

To @sierra11b you need to ask DHL for a detailed “Bill of Materials” (BoM). This will have a detailed breakdown of any and ALL charges. That will show what the $150 is for. Lots of mistakes are being made right now, especially by DHL. I urge you to ask for the BoM so you can see what the charge is. This is something that a lot of us would like to know. Thank you!

This is from digitaka? Did you ask digitaka about it?

Line expiration/use by date... use recommendation
I do the same with tatsu. I’ve also done some googling about stored line life and I’ve found info similar to you. From what I’ve read, as long as it’s stored inside away from sunlight it should last for several years. Possibly decades.

What is this grass?
Do you have any other pictures? I’d say hydrilla as well based on that single picture.

Do you want moderate or fast action for bladed jigs and spinnerbaits?
I like a (relatively) fast action using either mono or fluoro. If I were using braid, I’d probably opt for a moderate action. It’s all user preference. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer.

Isn't it even worth buying from Japan if the De minimis for Japan expired on 8/29/2025...
I believe digitaka pays 7.5% and charges you the other 7.5% up front like another poster said. With them, you won’t owe anything upon delivery. Not sure if that’s permanent or temporary policy. That said, even paying the full 15% is still much cheaper than buying from a US vendor in most cases.

Alternative to Zoom Flukes?
The Yamamoto d shad is basically a fluke shaped senko. The plastic feels very similar. It also has the senko shimmy as it sinks. I really like it. Only downside is the durability but that’s a worthwhile trade off imo.

Jewel spinnerbait....
Not to hijack OP’s thread, but I wonder if that sculpin would work here in south Florida. I know it’s meant to mimic a goby, but it also looks similar to a siren or amphiuma which we have here.

What can I do, if anything, to fish the bottom of a mucky pond?
What about trying a free rig? edit: woah, didn’t realize this was a revived 4 year old thread!

6th Sense Bodega
Woah! Have you ever fished it? Is it meant to be used weightless? Kind of funny thinking what it would be like with a 3/8 or 1/2 oz weight.

What are you favorite jigs?
Brush style head used to be my favorite as well. It’s great for fishing around laydowns and, well, you guessed it, brush! It’s not the best coming through grass though. That’s the only downside, but that’s why Siebert has a grass head! 😁

Awesome. So it works as intended. Great to know! Thanks!

Woah! That’s massive!

What are you favorite jigs?
This. Siebert’s quality is fantastic and so is the price. His hand tied skirts are beautiful and he has so many options it’ll make your head spin!

6th Sense Bodega
I just googled these. Neat. It’s like a beaver on steroids.
