My Buddy makes rod socks for me and cuts them to length for the specific rod model. My wife made cloth rod socks for me decades ago. Neoprene covers are for all reels.

I have a Hakai which I paid 142.00 for last year. It is light, really light. The start up of the Dream spool is extremely fast. Once I adjusted the cast control the ability to throw 3/16-1/4 was pretty darn good. I don’t have enough time on the reel to address reliability issues. It’s a solid build and at the stated retail, should be a great value.

I always went with a 5:4 or so to address the resistance of a big bait. Less fatigue. I’ve moved up a bit to 6:3 with a 100 mm handle. I can easily slow down or maintain a quicker rate of speed and still minimize the resistance.

It’s easy to talk about topics that bring you joy and spur your passion and interest whether you have an audience or talk to yourself, which in my latest years, I seem to do often.
