  1. Often when travelling for tourneys you'd see miles of extension cords running from rooms to the parking lot. Some of the nicer places had hookups at the bases of their light poles.
  2. I have seen it twice, both times the same scenario. Fish hit right at the boat and turned away. Hook set on a tight line snatched their heads around but cut the 12 lb flouro The reason you use flouro and not mono is in the clear deep open water you can control rate of fall easier because the flouro sinks. Also when casting to standing timber in 20 feet of water you can get the lure to pendulum less by not having a line that floats
  3. An old timer used to slay them with a lazy ike on a carolina rig Me, not so much
  4. This had me cracking up!!
  5. Did you see some youtuber set the world record for Rick rolling celebrities in a day? Then he rick rolled the Guinness World Records ... hahahahhaa
  6. Norris lake smallies 1. Moon eye jig - small shad shaped bait 2. drop shot - small shad shaped bait 3. tube
  7. How deep are you fishing? Fishing a deep ledge needs a long cast to maximize the bait in the strike zone. Often on the ledges/bluff walls they will key in on a specific presentation So deep divers, swimbaits, scrounger type baits, and spinnerbaits all get a turn
  8. Here's a hidden tool box you can add to your trucks
  9. A mudline off rocks is somewhere I'll always check out. I have little to no success when the mud line is on a muddy shore unless I can find a rocks or an isolated hard target
  10. Cruisin' the shoreline in the bible belt
  11. I've had some luck with it. Seems to be good on large flats with rock when they drop the water MLFer James "Worldwide" Watson won an FLW event on Norris using one https://majorleaguefishing.com/pro-circuit/2016-10-22-watson-wins-on-norris/
  12. You mentioned little to no cover - I had to switch to a toad on my lake since it too has little to no cover. Get more bites than with the frog but there are a lot of times when they just swipe at it. As the fall sets in the last couple of years it seems I get 10X the bites on a whopper plopper than any other topwater but I've got to cover a bunch of water.
  13. After living near Lake Erie for 35 years and living in East TN for 10 I would much rather deal with summer in the south. Heck, I think it was more humid during the summers in Ohio than here I hated the days where its 92 during the day and 84 at night Maybe because I live on the backside of a ridge but there is always at least a 20 degree difference in night and day temps
  14. Practice is what helps with this. Like @islandbass indicated, this is easier if you cast with 2 hands on the regular Even though my thumb seems stupid on the other hand, it's much easier than writing left handed
  15. When I lived in Ohio, you had to get a permit to hold a tournament. Insurance was required and the tourney director would have to factor the cost into the payout.
  16. Bryan was an outstanding fisherman, who 2 years in a row qualified to represent Connecticut in the BASS Nation championships and then went on to win his division in those Championships to qualify for back to back classics. I do not consider accomplished major tournament trail anglers as average joe's Even the resident hillbilly on the BASS trail - Matt Robertson who lives in a trailer park is far from an average joe in my book.
  17. I would hardly classify Nolan as an average joe, more like a blue chip prospect. The opens game is a tough life where many aspiring pro's end up drowning in debt chasing their dream. Here is the stat line from an opens angler that has been chasing his dream since 2011 and has not qualified for the Elite series yet. Someone I would bet on VS any average joe out there.
  18. There are levels to the professional bass ranks To fish as a Pro in the BFL series is $200 a tourney, which is affordable if you have a pro dream. How many of these average joe's are winning these events? How many of the average Joe's are winning the AOY in their respective BFL league? Hardly any, because the guys fishing at these levels are just less experienced pros. Many of the guys that fish in the Volunteer Division of the BFL's are higher level pro's, the best sticks on their given lakes, guys that guide everyday and fish every tues and thurs dogfight they can enter. Some have fished this division for 20 years. Not a single one would ever be considered an average joe. For everyone that thinks it's too hard to become a professional fisherman, sign up on the pro side of your local BFL, start cashing checks and start selling your brand to sponsors. After a couple years of success on the BFL trail move on to the Toyota Series in the next step to being a pro.
  19. Happy to see Michael Neal win. I had a guide trip with his uncle Rogne Brown and have spent quite a few bucks in the family's Dayton Boat dock store. Good people!!
  20. I am here, because misery loves company
  21. 75-80 is topwater and crankbait time for me depending on where I am marking bait
  22. I was working a concrete job when an excavator hit a gas line. We had to stop working at that site and we were told to go to the airport job. Right before I left, my boss told me a small plane hit one of the twin towers. On my way to the airport you have to exit to head west, this is when I saw all the people coming over an embankment lining up alongside the freeway with their suitcases. They had to evacuate the airport on foot as Cleveland Hopkins was a rumored target for the plane that crashed in PA.
  23. I love TN It's mostly huge diesels rolling coal but every now and then you see Ricky Bobby in a honda with an expired tag and an exhaust flapper Or this guy
  24. There is more content- you just have to pay for it because Boyd doesn't have enough private planes
