Well now...That's quite a list. I guess that covers it all, but look at the MBR844C which overlaps with the BCR854. Also, the MBR842 which is a favorite of most Loomis guys for lighter applications. BTW, Although I don't own the BCR893, everyone says this is THE BOMB for soft plastics in general and the Senko in particular. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Wow! I don't like being on the other side of some of the great fishermen that have posted here, but this is how I roll: First of all, I too use spinning gear for most soft plastics, especially weightless presentations. Maximum (comfortable) weight for your rig is a 6" Senko. As for hooks, I fish 4/0 EWG Gamakatsu Offset Worm Hooks most of the time on spinning gear. http://www.gamakatsu.com/catalog/worm.htm These are not described as "light wire", but they are lighter than heavy wire! The exception is Mizmo Small Jaws tubes, I use 3/0 EWG for these. With heavier gear and braid, my choice is 4/0 EWG Super Line Gammies and XPoints or 5/0 Owner. For big worms (7" Senko and 10" Rage Tail Anaconda), 5/0 Gamakatsu Offset Shank Worm, Round Bend. All of these hooks have ultra sharp points. Penetration is never an issue and as the fish resists, the hook is driven deeper. I experience a very high hook-up ratio and once hooked-up, a significantly higher landing ratio. So...different strokes for different folks.

The specialty reels will do a better job, no doubt, but you will be okay with the CU200E7. Still, I prefer spinning tackle for weightless soft plastics. No matter how good you are, occasionally that worm is going airborne and you are left with a bird's nest from hell! I may not happen too often, but it's not worth it to me.

If you are not in a hurry, just keep an eye on our Flea Market. There are some great deals there. For the past few years most of my rod & reel purchased have come from BassResource.com members.

I won't work at all. The tip will snap in no time, perhaps on the first cast. There is more "margin" in heavier rods, but even then your cast must be smooth.

Great deal, buy it now! The rod can be used as an "all-around" rod, but more specifically, soft plastics and jigs.

For me, bigger is always better. I would rather be skunked fishing for big bass than catch a boatload of 1 1/2 - 2 lb bass. I quit fishing 5" Senkos because they attract too many fish. Small bass will still attack the 6" version, but it weeds out most of them. Three or four times a year I fish the White River below Bull Shoals Dam. I fish a sculpin for big German Browns, my partners always fish for rainbows. On average, they catch 30+ per day while I'm just looking for a bite.
