Abu Knob Replacement
I have a Gen 4 STX and cannot stand the knobs. The edges hurt my hand. I read somewhere that Lews and Abu handles and knobs were interchangeable for the most part. Would Lews knobs fit directly without replacing the handle assembly? Ive owned several Abus in the past and have never been wild about their knobs

Compact spinnerbaits
Seibert makes a great finesse compact spinnerbait. Thin wire but always falls back into place. Great vibration.

MLF Bally Bet Stage Seven
Well MLF is run by the anglers and BASS isn’t. That’s the difference. If MLF rules didn’t specify they couldn’t use two lines then why would the angler not use it. They literally do this every tournament I watch. Anytime a follower get close to the boat they dip another stick in. I don’t like it but if it’s within the rules then it is what it is. If I were an angler id trust the organizations governing body to do their due diligence on the state rule book too. If MLF told the anglers two lines was against state regs and therefore not allowed them the anglers should be DQ’d but obviously this isn’t the case.

Paypal and JDM purchases
Last JDM purchase I made through PayPal they used a two week old exchange rate and my purchase was $40 more. PayPal blamed it on my credit card and they blamed it on PayPal. It wasn’t worth the headache to continue calling them so I just ate it and learned my lesson.

MLF Bally Bet Stage Seven
Jeopardizing MLF never coming back into the state of Minnesota for a couple of citations seems to be a dumb move. They should’ve just released a statement saying they are aware of the violations and are handling it.

Fluke advice
Flukes really shine in shallow grass. I caught a 5lb largemouth this weekend on one in pad stems less than a foot of water. Most situations you want to work it pretty slow. Let it die and sink. A couple of twitches will bring it back to the top of the water. I prefer a 4/0 wide gap hook. I tried the nose screw hooks and caught fish but felt like the action was not as good and the baits really get torn up because they turn inside out and move up the line. I’ve also found that covering the hook eye and knot with the nose will reduce the action a lot. If I need it to sink faster I’ll use a thicker, heavier hook. I’m not a fan of adding an additional weight. A fluke is very visual fishing to me. Most of the time I can see the bait because it’s in the top foot or two of water and twitches often break the surface. Bites can be hard to detect because you’re working it on slack line. Around grass I throw it on 50lb braid and slacked braid transmits little to no feel. Fortunately most bass hit them hard and take off so it’s not an issue. And in really shallow water you’ll see the wake or swirl just before they eat it. Just be sure to reel up the slack before setting the hook. Im no fluke expert but this has always worked for me. It’s not my favorite style of fishing but on calm sunny days where bass are keyed in on Shad it works really well.

Diawa Zillion SV TW
Aluminum gears get a bad rap because Shimano’s have had issues in the Metanium 16. Daiwa has been successfully using aluminum for years with little issue

The pros dont know much more than we do
Absolutely. Never bet money with a group of old men. Especially on the golf course.

you all ever talk about Quantum reels?
20 years ago they made some of the better reels on the market. The PT series were always rock solid and treated me well. The ACS brake system was very good for the time period. Currently I have an Icon baitcaster and S3 KVD spinning reel but use neither enough to have a bold opinion. Both do what I ask when needed though.

John Daly
Tiger woods has said he’s the most talented golfer on the planet and had twice as much talent as him. I remember Tiger saying that after a round Daly drank 2 bottles of bourbon and next day shot 67 and beat him. Or something similar.

Im pretty sure you don’t “need” anything ?

Spotted Bass, good or bad?
I have a hard time believing that spots and lmb negatively correlate. If anything is competing with our lmb for forage it’s crappie and gar. However there is no shortage of Shad or baitfish in our system. What’s affecting lmb is fishermen.

aka they don’t have your package anymore. Friend of mine received that note on a package for a week before he called and it was determined the delivery driver stole his package.

Bassmaster Elite at Lake Oahe
There’s a handful of 20 pound bags.

Which rod
I wouldn’t get too worked up about. Just buy something and go fish. The cheaper equipment is better today than it’s ever been. You’ll likely catch the monkey and upgrade soon anyways.

Affordable rods for a new bass fisherman.
If you gave me $50 and made me walk out of a dept store with a reel I’d probably choose an Abu Black Max just because I know they are solid. However with a little patience you can find good deals on better reels. *** always has a good selection of used reels. I’ve bought a ton from them.

Use Rockcrawler in an off color or different crank in better color?
Only one way to find out

Is this this a good deal?
I would pass.

What is the difference btwn a Shimano 20 Metanium XG and a Metanium MGL 150 XG?
Mine was $296 from Japan. You did well. Enjoy the reel…it’s sweet.

MLF Stage 6 Cayuga
DC has 3 MLF victories. All using livescope. There’s no doubt that Wheeler and him are ahead of everyone else in that technology.

Promise.

Another best rod thread
Lowrider, Tatula cork handle, Mojo, ALX Ikos. All good rods for a fair price. Sierra is a nice step up if wanting Dobyns. Never even held a Kaden but the action is supposed to be very fast. Sierra is more moderate which would be good for techniques mentioned.

The latest sale thread
Ran into Academy today for a few baits and they had several rods on decent sales. $30-50 off. Veritas, 13 blackout, TP1, Daiwa Procyon, Tac40, all star, etc. Not sure if it’s specific to my location or nationwide.
