  1. The front hook definitely has to face forward or the hook will ride next to the body on the retrieve, making it nearly impossible to hook a fish. I'm thinking about turning the rear hook on the glide bait around, so it also faces forward. The hooks in the picture are correct for a bait without the big tail of the glide bait but I think the tail will impeded the hook set. If you're glide bait doesn't have a tail, face the hooks in the opposite direction. If it has a tail, like the picture, face both of them forward. Also, depending on the position of the hook eye, you might have to use two split rings to have it hang right. .
  2. I swap out the trebles on most of my hard baits for inline hooks. IMO, the treble hooks on most hard baits are too small, increasing the risk of the fish getting off, not to mention the danger of an extra treble hook swinging around when you're try to unhook your fish. If you're going to try this, go online and find out how to measure the replacement online hook. It is NOT the same size as the treble.
  3. If you want to try a Vixen type bait, check out the River2Sea Rover. It's identical to the Vixen, walks easily, and the price is right
  4. I'm on the water at first light 99% of the time. I wear yellow lenses in this low light condition as it gives me the most contrast so I can see anything that might be floating on the water. When the sun comes out, I switch to blue lenses. YMMV
  5. The hot/cold bag would work for informal or club events. If you fish a bigger event with tubs of water to put your fish/bag in while waiting, it probably have a hard time getting the bag to stay under water
  6. Swap out the trebles for inline hooks and you'll be pleased with the results.
  7. I use a 1/4 oz head with a 6/0 hook with a 5" paddle tail swim bait

  9. I, and two friends, each have 2-3 Type R 100's that we've been using weekly for over a year with no problems
  10. It could be the fuel line is plugged up. With the boat sitting that long, it might be a good idea to change the line, regardless of any other problems. Good luck, hope it's an easy fix
  11. If you have the room, add another battery. Hook up one just to start the outboard and the oner to power all the other stuff you have. You might be asking too much of ANY battery for a full day.
  12. Define deep. Maybe in the lake you're fishing, the fish are shallower. If you've looked at a lot of the same depths, maybe it's time to look shallower, or even deeper, to see if the fish are staging off the points
  13. A simple answer would be, there aren't any fish there.
  14. Be careful you aren't shooting a game animal out of season. The fine could ruin your day
  15. size 6 will be ok
  16. The warranty is 3 years
  17. Semantics, when you mention Ned rig, everyone knows what you're talking about regardless of the head and bait
  18. If there are talapia in the lake, the bigger fish are probably eating them. You probably don't have the equipment to toss a big swim bait, but I would try using a 5" soft plastic swim bait that resembles the talapia.
  19. Dont stress yourself out over this. If they didn't learn from you, they would have learned from someone else. You did your good deed by helping them. Relax and move on.
  20. Find a hand pour guy. You might not get the exact baits you want, but he should have plenty of good options
  21. No two lures are going to perform exactly alike, even the store bought ones. Lots of people have more than one of the same lure and only one of them catches fish. Just keep using the one that catches fish.
  22. The inserts make a a big difference if you're standing to fish. No more having one leg way up in the air. I would call a Nitro dealer to make sure you have enough room to install one. You don't want to cut through a strut on the deck. If you get one, I suggest finding someone who has installed one before. Don't forget you'll have to run the drain hose somewhere too. If your boat has a live weil on the front deck, it could drain into that without using the hose. Good luck
  23. I would throw baits that create more commotion than the rain hitting the water. Prop bats, wake baits. Personally I would throw the larger size Deps Buzz Jet, whopper plopped 130 or a 5" Evergreen SB. All three of these lures create a lot of noise and commotion
  24. A spare prop is like insurance. Something you buy and hope you never have to use it. If you're using a stainless prop, get an aluminum spare, if price is a concern. You're only going to use it to get back to the ramp, then swap it out again
