  1. Very similar scenario except was not able to land the bass. Thanks for sharing.
  2. My boat tops out at 40 mph, as fast as I wanna go. BUT the fastest I've seen or been is 68 mph on a buddies Nitro......250 Yamaha.
  3. Never had a deep cycle battery fail under 5 years....... keep them charged.
  4. Rephrase, largest bass I've ever seen while fishing. Today was a day we set aside to simply fill the live well. Using nightcrawlers we caught large bluegill, yellow perch and channel catfish. I caught a very large bluegill and during the fight on ultralight tackle I felt a big thump. A giant largemouth had my bluegill in it's mouth and he surfaced right at the boat before our eyes. We were amazed at the size, we both guessed 11 - 12 lbs. He surfaced again and spit the bluegill which is already filleted. This was only a 38 acre lake but obviously houses at least 1 very large fish.
  5. The Chickihominy is actually a tidal river, very popular for it's largemouth bass fishing. Many tournaments are held there and if you find yourself in the midst of one of those tournaments...... it's CHAOTIC.
  6. 6 - 8 fish in 5 hours of fishing is an epic day in most of the lakes I fish and buddies will beg for your secret. We have several lakes that are closer to metropolitan areas that are dubbed as 1 fish wonders. I'm heading to the Chickihominy in 2 weeks and will see upwards of a thousand bass boats in that week. Fishing pressure is at an all-time high almost everywhere.
  7. John Denver wrote a song " some days are diamonds and some days are stone" Was fishing a deep clear lake last week and had issues with deep hooking them on a Shaky head/Zoom speed craw. Had to go behind the gill on several fish but each fish swam away fine. Crazy part was gave a guy on the dock the same bait I was throwing and he caught one under the dock......deep hooked. Had to jump back out of the boat and unhook the fish for him.
  8. Watching my buddy mess around with his tangled rods, stumbling around his boat is like watching a Bill Dance blooper. Tangling or lack of tangling was the #1 reason I invested in rod socks, surprisingly inexpensive as well.
  9. Lol, not sure why the bass around here hit a bait that sounds like a trolling motor adjusted way to high......the buzzbait.
  10. Since most of my rods, reels and tackle are on the boat parked in the garage, it makes for the perfect rigging station.
  11. Chatterbait for sure. I can follow that up with casting a Spinnerbait and bass are waiting in line to hit it...... nothing on a chatterbait.
  12. I just spent a week at a lake that 1/8 Shakyhead/ Zoom speed craw was a big producer. It certainly sounds like a leader knot issue. Only leader knot I've ever used is the Alberto, it's never failed at the knot. On spinning I throw 15# braid with 8lb sunline snyper flouro as the leader.
  13. Nice write up. Keeping a mindset that's willing to learn is paramount. You'll likely be that guy one day that makes someone go, hmmm.
  14. I also leave the split rings on and use Duolock.
  15. Grew up listening to her, she was special.
  16. Bed fishing is just not my thing. Yes, prefer summer patterns but prespawn is my favorite time of year.
  17. It's now time to pursue this fish at night ?. How much would you guess the fish to weigh ?
  18. I have 12 combos in the rod locker, without rod sleeves profanity would be inevitable.
  19. No true bass fisherman would do such a thing ?
  20. Eliminator Trolling Motor Prop Nut Billet Aluminum Custom Fit For MinnKota 80, 101 and 112 lb Models (GFEL-MK-BK-DP). https://a.co/d/dAul61D Buddy of mine swears by them for dampening trolling motor vibration.
  21. You don't see that every day.
  22. Jigs in the prespawn account for every bass I've caught over 5lbs in the past 3 years.
  23. I use them with the VMC crossover rings. Hanging hasn't been an issue from a boat. I'll add this about the rings: Fished for 5 hours last week on the same flickShake.
  24. Ok thanks for the laugh ? I didn't hook up completely one time on a decent and took off, separated from trailer and folded the landing gear..... don't tell anyone ok.
