  1. I cut wood 3 days a week until it gets warm enough to fish, plenty of exercise. Not sure I could handle extreme north. Well maybe if I didn't burn wood ?

Live on the WV / Va state line and have to assume you mean Stonewall in WV. Not familiar with a lake in VA with that name. I fish many lakes in WV with standing timber and haven't found anything better than Spinnerbaits, swimjigs and swimbaits on an underspin. I really like a wacky rig for skipping docks or for focusing on limited cover. For a plethora of standing timber, much prefer moving baits to attract active fish and go from there.
  3. Well the Cowboys are favored and Dak struggles in the post season. Oh and the fact that Brady hasn't lost to the cowboys in his entire storied career. That's if you'd deem a Tampa win here as an upset.
  4. Why do you y'all think the " Bass " guitar became so popular ? If it was named after a fish, they must like it.
  5. Rodgers has struggled his entire storied career in big games, surprising. Dak is another one. Superbowl pick. Bills 31 SF 24
  6. You can control your Jerkbait by increasing or decreasing your cadence and rod angle. The last thing I want is a suspending bait to sink into cover and hang. This is where an upward sweep may be more beneficial. That said, I fish gin clear water and almost always have a visual. The bait disappears and I set the hook, truly a fun way to fish.
  7. 20# Berkeley Vanish hands down........ JUST KIDDING. Great advice already, just like to add. Another advantage of braid to leader is 99% of time I snag and break off, it's at the bait so you still have plenty of leader to retie. I like the Alberto knot and very very rarely have to tie it on the boat, do it at home. Good fishing ?
  8. Don't think I've ever messaged my soft plastics but I've been known to pull on elaztech. ?
  9. The Joy of the pursuit is magnified by the success but I find if I'm on the water pursuing, I've had a successful day ------ does that make sense cause I'm not saying it again. ?

I'm 62 and my eyes are 82. The very best investment I've made as far as fishing is concerned is prescription polarized sunglasses, progressive.
  11. Crappie is the first fish I target in early spring. They are a lot of fun to catch and are abundant around here. Even in the warmer months I'll take a break from Bass fishing and target Bluegill and Crappie.
  12. Every body of water I see while driving, always wonder how the Bass fishing is. The wife even asked me today while driving home from dropping our daughter off at the airport while I intensily starred at a large farm pond. She said with a grin " do you think it's stocked with Bass ? " ? Bass fishing is an everyday topic whether I'm on the water or on the couch.
  13. Welcome to Bass Resources? whenever I hear East Tennessee, I think of Kenny Chesney ?...... My wife's favorite.
  14. When I Google best lakes to retire on, several Tennessee lakes pop up. My wife's business will keep me here " VA" long-term. When I know a situation is out of my hands, I learn to become content. I retired at 58 and have no problem finding places to fish but have to drive to them..... I'm fine with that. Be thankful for what you have.

The island of lanai. Humpback whales off the coast of Kauai. Sika bucks fighting while hiking with the wife in Maui. Magical moments.
  16. Wife is very claustrophobic to the point she can't get under the main bed spread and she occasionally sleep walks, weird girl ?. I on the other hand fall asleep inside of a minute and rarely wake up in the night, a very deep sleeper. Other people's sleep issues go unoticed on my side of the bed.
  17. I just live over the mountain from the south fork, fort valley. I treat it just like the north fork, white baits. Pearl super flukes, white swimbaits on underspins and craw immitations, zoom speed craws work as well. And last but not least, zoom lizard in cotton candy chartreuse, not sure why but it does.
  18. We just had power restored, was out for 3 hrs due to high winds. 4* with a forecasted -15 wind chill tonight. Set my alarm for 3am so I can shove more wood in the boiler, it won't hold all night in those temps.
  19. The wife volunteered me to deliver Christmas gifts Saturday morning for the needy in 3* with a forecasted -20 wind chill. I'll be a needy for a frost bite kit ?
  20. Marrying an ambitious business woman ?

Very nice birds and personally love hunting them in ❄️. Must be something to those Benelli's. Our last hunt, my buddy shot 75% of the birds with his while I made noise with my Remington. Oh well, he gave me every bird we " he " shot. Hope the pooch has an extended career.
